I'm just brows-ing

I am a creature of habit. Especially when it comes to beauty, I like the products that I like and I trust the brands that I trust and I don't often stray from that. But every so often, it's nice to try out a few new bits and under the spotlight this time was brows, mainly because I wanted a new brow product that would be really low maintenance for when I'm on holiday. First up is this It's A Brow Thing powder by Barry M. I think the concept is really cool - a powder that comes with the applicator rather than having to faff around with brushes. But the downside to that is that there's no way to control the amount of product on there - so it goes on really heavy! Even after a lot of blending out with a spoolie, I still felt like I was going to have brow powder falling down my face all day. Also, despite the fact that I bought the light shade, it's still super dark so totally not the product for anyone with very fair brows. Overall, a nice idea, a very easy to use product (like I wanted) and a very good price but it did just not do it for me.

Next up, I went with a brand that I already entrust my brow fleek-ness to. The Maybelline brow collection is made up of loads of nice pieces and the Brow Satin pencil is what I use on a day to day basis. So I decided to give the Brow Drama crayon a try (my logic being that a thicker pencil would mean quicker and easier application). I went for the Dark Brown shade (the same as I use in the other pencil) and I actually really liked it. It kind of half achieved what I bought it for too; the application was much quicker for filling in the inside half of my brows but then the pencil felt too thick to do the outer half quickly so it involved a lot of blending and correcting with a spoolie. Maybe using the two pencils together will be the ultimate combination?
