Friends who drink together stay together

As you may know if you've been reading my blog for a while, Laura is one my best friends, my long-term lunch partner and occasional-trips-to-london buddy. But my most favourite times that we see eachother are when we drink together. Although now we're both in our twenties (we're getting so old), a few jagerbombs won't cut it. Nope, now that we're super grown up and therefore super sophisticated, we decided to go out for a wine tasting night. I know right - how fancy! Even though we went in the evening it was still pretty warm so I gave my new primark skirt an outing. Seriously how nice is it for only £10? I just love the colours and the way the stripes aren't uniform in width. I've been looking for a nice short-at-the-front-and-long-at-the-back skirt for a while now but they always look odd on me so I'm really glad I've finally found one I like! I kept the rest of my outfit pretty simple with black crop top, black cropped leather jacket (which I hadn't worn in a few years and now I've worn it twice in a few weeks) and lace up black heels. Every time I wear these heels I hope that they'll be less painful than the last time and every time I'm proved wrong. I finished with brown leather Olivia Burton watch and Retro lipstick.

A few weeks ago on a night out, I walked past a little place called Veeno (tagline: the italian wine cafe) and thought how nice it looked and then by sheer coincidence Laura suggested going there a week or so later so we went for a wine tasting session. It's not as formal as it sounds though; you get 2 white wines, a rosé and 2 red wines brought out one after the other, along with a massive platter of antipasti to enjoy it all with. Supposedly each wine is paired up with a different kind of meat or cheese on the board so that's how we ate it but I don't think it would've affected anything if you had eaten it all together. We also got a glass of prosecco while we waited for our food to be prepared and then we got a glass of sherry and some homemade tiramisu after which even I thought was amazing and I don't normally like the taste of coffee. The sherry on the other hand was not so amazing but I'm not one to waste alcohol so we downed it anyway. I was a bit apprehensive about the wine tasting at first because I'm not a fan of red wine but I actually really enjoyed all of them! I think maybe if they'd brought out the red first then it would've been a bit rich/strong for me but after building up from the white and rosé it was really quite nice. I don't think I'm any kind of wine connoisseur though - I couldn't taste any of the "notes" that were supposedly in each one!

I also got some bonus belated birthday presents from Laura this weekend which showed that she clearly knows me well. What are my 3 main hobbies? Drinking, baking and anything fashion related. So she managed to hit every nail on the head with a body chain (she knew I wanted one for my holiday and picked a beautiful one), a cocktail shaker with recipes on the side and a mug cake recipe book!

So just in case we weren't sick of each other yet, we thought we needed to cram in one last catch up before my holiday so we went out for happy hour cocktails and an early dinner at Revolution (we're like a full-on couple; we got 3 small plates and then a pizza and just shared everything). Again, the weather was not sunny but it was pretty warm and humid so I went with a long sleeve dress with no jacket as some kind of in between. I won't even try and do a shop this post for the dress because I got it ages ago and don't even know how I'd go about finding a similar one but I have linked the shoes below. I love anything really strappy so these knotted black heels are a winner for me. I finished with my Marc Jacobs watch and Cher liquid lipstick by Gerard cosmetics.
