The queens birthday weekend take #1
No I'm not referring to the whole Queen-at-90 thing, but me and dear old Elizabeth have 2 very important things in common. Well for a start, we're both royalty and also we like to celebrate our birthday twice. If you've been reading my blog for a while, you will know by now that my birthday celebrations typically stretch out for as long as possible. So because my birthday was a Monday this year (yesterday, so I am now officially in my twenties), I decided that I'd be celebrating on the weekends both sides. This was the more family weekend and then next weekend is when I'll be celebrating with my friends (who are basically my second family). So you can be expecting a 'take #2' blog post in a weeks time.
I kicked things off on Saturday with a day of drinking; I've worked out that I had 17 drinks in total. In the afternoon, I went cocktail crawling with my parents, which means I only bought one round and they treated me to all the rest. And considering it was their treat, I made the most of it and had 5 cocktails. We went to Revolucion de Cuba, Slug and lettuce and then Turtle bay and I pretty much had variations of the same drink everywhere. When it comes to cocktails, I usually go with a pornstar martini or something else passion fruit based. In slug and lettuce, I wanted to try a 'screaming orgasm' but asking for a pornstar and a screaming orgasm in the same sentence was just too much. It wasn't especially sunny on Saturday but it wasn't cold either so I wore one of my all time favourite pieces; this butterfly print playsuit which reminds me of a Valentino. Because it has so many colours in it, it pretty much goes with any shoes/jacket. This time I went with my new blush pink lace up sandals which have a much smaller heel than most of the pairs I own and therefore are my new 'comfy pair' and then my grey duster coat. I added Morphe 218 false lashes and Mehr lipstick (which is quickly becoming my favourite). I also had a really fun spontaneous night out when one of my besties Staci messaged to see if I was free and so we met her boyfriend and his friends to watch the England game and then went into town afterwards. I personally don't get the whole football thing but it was actually really fun to watch it at the pub because there was such a good atmosphere! And what was supposed to be a sophisticated cocktail afternoon, turned into a 13 hour drinking session. Clearly I'm not ready to be a real adult yet.
I felt surprisingly fresh on Sunday and so I managed to go for a family meal actually not hungover. Although by the end of it, I did feel as if I'd slipped into a carb coma. I have totally fallen in love with this river island skirt; I just think that pink and orange are such a nice summer combo. So of course I did my make up accordingly with champagne pink eyeshadow and orange lipstick (I used Chilli by MAC with a Revlon lip butter in Tutti frutti layered over the top). I even painted my toe nails orange to match (how cute am I). I kept the rest of my outfit simple with black choker top and black lace up heeled sandals.
I woke up on Monday morning to find that I'd been totally spoilt! I got my new iPhone 6s in rose gold (so pretty), Ted baker phone case, Spectrum eye brush collection, Revolution contour and highlight palettes and Urban decay highlighter along with books, DVDs, clothes, some stuff for holiday and loads of other lovely thoughtful bits and bobs. I'm lucky that everyone in my family is really good at gifts. Then I had a pretty chilled day; I got my new phone all set up and then went to the cinema to see Mothers day with my mumma bear and got the biggest tango ice blast ever. Because, you know, you can't go to the cinema without getting one. You should know by now that blush pink is my current obsession and these ASOS trousers are the softest fabric and I love the turned up cuff at the bottom. I think that blush pink and grey are a lovely combination so I wore them with this grey embellished collar top and grey barely-there-heels (both new look).
Then the rest of the family came round for more presents (yay) and the cutest champagne tea party I've ever seen. My dad spent the majority of Sunday pretending to be a 1950s housewife by slaving away in the kitchen. He made mini cupcakes in 4 different varieties, milk and white chocolate covered strawberries (my fave thing ever), millionaires shortbread and my spectacular birthday cake. We also had loads of mini sandwiches, mini scones with jam and clotted cream, mini sausages and sausage rolls and a cheese board. We did consider making it an Alice in Wonderland themed tea party (which would've been so cute) and we were deciding who would be who from the film. My mum and brother showed they knew me best - my dad thought I would be Alice but they knew I'd be the Queen of hearts (a bitch but a queen none the less). I did wear a very beautiful princessy dress for the occasion. I just think the fit and print are so gorgeous and it's not a style I normally get to wear. I finished the look with my black valentino dupe shoes and Mehr lipstick. So if you thought that I'd be chilling out on the celebrations this year seeing as next year is the big 21, then you were totally wrong because this rambly blog post was only the first half! No matter how old I am, I'll always be a spoilt princess.
