London baby
You may remember that the weekend before Christmas, Me and Laura headed up for an amazing weekend in London and so 6 months later, the capital was calling to us again and so we decided it was about time for another trip.
After an insanely early start (hello 6am coach journey), we kicked off our weekend in London with breakfast at the Cereal Killer Cafe in Camden, which is exactly what it sounds like - a cafe purely dedicated to cereal from all over the world with different flavour milk, yummy toppings and pop tarts. Obviously I went with enough sugar to make all my teeth fall out (I got the double rainbow cereal bowl with strawberry milk and 2 pop tarts).
I've been to an ice bar before in Amsterdam just over a year ago but this one was even better! Seeing as I'm an ice queen anyway, it felt a little bit like I was returning to my natural habitat. There were loads of cute sculptures everywhere, and everything including the bar, seats and the glasses were made of ice. Plus we got dressed up in these super cute fur trimmed ponchos so I felt like a character out of Narnia or something.
Then we headed back to Camden to have a look round the market and all the cute little stalls and shops. They had some of the most amazing looking street food and I think I'd be quite happy to be left at this donut and cronut cart.
I've seen photos on instagram of The Alchemist for ages now and I've always thought it looked amazing. But they don't have them in Nottingham, only Manchester, Leeds and London so we 100% had to go while we were there. We got some pretty impressive cocktails including a colour changing one (video on my instagram) and one with a meringue on top! There was also some great novelty factor with the food - I got fried chicken and sweet potato fries served in a chicken shaped basket!
Okay so our sense of direction hadn't been great all day. We got off at the wrong tube stop when we first arrived, we pretty much searched the whole of Camden before we found the Cereal Killer Cafe, and we kept reading maps the wrong way round and going the wrong way even with the assistance of Google maps. And Laura is even doing her degree in geography so she should definitely be better at all this than me! But anyway, we may not have been very good all day but this was by far the worst. We had booked to go to a rooftop outdoor cinema in Shadwell and found the street it was meant to be on on Google maps and then ended up walking the entire length of the street and then in a giant square and couldn't find it anywhere and it turns out we had walked past it! With all the getting lost that we did, it's hardly surprising that we walked a pretty impressive 12.5 miles over the weekend! Anyway once we finally found the cinema, it was so good! It was so cute with all the fairy lights and fake turf and deck chairs and we all got a blanket each and a pair of headphones and then the film ('The big short' which was super confusing but really good - a very wolf-of-wall-street kind of film) was projected onto a big screen. It was also shown at the perfect time because we got to watch the sunset with views of the Shard and the Gherkin in the background. They also had a bar and BBQ going at the cinema so we got some treats and some wine. In fact I basically spent all day drinking, I had 8 drinks! I obviously got mixed up with the advised intake of water. Even though it was pretty warm on Saturday, I dressed with the outdoor cinema in mind and so I went with white jeans, black and white stripe halter neck top, black chunky sandals (because even I can't hack 12.5 miles in heels) and mauve duster jacket.
I've always really wanted to go Madame Tussauds (although the horror film Wax house almost put me off the whole idea) but I didn't have very high expectations, I just thought it would be a cool thing to do and take photos of. But it was actually loads better than I thought! All the wax works were amazing (bar one or two like David Beckham and Emma Watson who didn't really look like them) and the detail is amazing! Obviously I got photos with bae Leonardo, with my bestie Kendall and of me being a queen and running the white house. Just a standard day basically. But then after going around everything, there was a little ride through London's history and then a superhero 4D cinema experience too so it was actually really good!
Then we figured it was about time to go out and enjoy the sunshine so we headed to Southbank and had some cocktails in the sunshine along the Thames (with some pretty impressive views of the London eye and Big Ben in the background). How cute that my cocktail came served in a coconut! I'd looked at the weather forecast and knew it was meant to be sunny on Sunday so I'd packed a dress - this grey knit midi dress is one of my faves. I wore it with the same shoes and jacket as on Saturday and then finished with these sunglasses that I bought when we had a quick shop along Oxford street the day before.
And then we stumbled across this cute little summer festival called the Udderbelly festival which we had a little wander around. All the flower and lantern decorations were so cute!
We wanted to see as much of London as we could so we wanted to head to a different area for dinner. We went with Knightsbridge and found this amazing restaurant right opposite Harrods where I had the most amazing lobster and crab ravioli. I was seriously tempted by their patisserie section but I'd already bought my macarons that morning so I managed to restrain myself. But if I could, I would've eaten the whole shop. Then we headed back to Victoria to catch our coach home and after the crazy busy weekend we had, we needed the 3 hour journey home to rest! I can definitely see these trips becoming a regular thing; we literally had the most fun time!
