Let's kiss and make up
Girls, I'm sure you've done this before. So basically, I forgot that I'd completely used up my eyebrow pencil so I nipped into Boots to get a new one - and ended up coming out with all of this! But it totally wasn't my fault because Maybelline was doing 3 for 2 across everything and seeing as I was already buying the eyebrow pencil (I get the brow drama pencil in dark brown) then I only had to buy one of these new liquid lipsticks and I got the second one free! And then I was totally going to stop there but then I spotted this gorgeous Revlon gift set that you get free when you spend £14.99 so I picked up one of their liquid lipsticks too and then got a new nail varnish. So basically, it would have been rude not to. And so instead of letting my spontaneous spending spree go to waste, I thought I'd do a little review for you of the new lip products I got (I've already reviewed the brow pencil in a previous blog post, I haven't tried the eyeshadow palette yet and the nail varnish speaks for itself).
First up is the Revlon colour burst balm stain in the shade 001 Honey duce and it came as part of the free gift set. I don't wear things like this that often because I prefer an actual lipstick with a stronger colour but it was still nice. I'm not sure if it was meant to be a lip enhancing one because it was kind of tingly and tasted of peppermint but it gave a nice shine and wasn't too heavy so if you're looking for something like that then you might want to give this one a try!
Next up we're on to the first of the Maybelline vivid matte liquid lipsticks - this one is in the shade 50 nude thrill and it matches the name pretty well I'd say. It's the perfect nude for me; with my skin tone I often find that nudes are too light and look like foundation lips (never has been or ever will be an acceptable look) but this one is really nice with a slight peachy colour. The actual formula is really nice too - it's really easy to apply and has a lovely creamy texture. I wouldn't necessarily say they're matte lipsticks though; they dry to more of a satin finish with a slight shine still.
Same liquid lipstick but this time in the shade 05 nude flush. I wouldn't say this name is very accurate - it's a really rosy pink rather than a nude but it's a gorgeous colour and a good dupe for the Kylie lip kit in Posie K. I really need to get myself a Kylie lip kit but they just sell out so fast each time!
This was my favourite out of all of them! The Revlon ultra HD matte lipcolour in the shade 625 HD love amour had the nicest formula out of all of them; a really thick creamy consistency that dries to a matte that's neither sticky nor drying. And I absolutely love the colour; a beautiful cherry red with orange undertones. I think it'll just be so perfect for summer!
