A life-long love affair
I'm someone who's prone to change their mind. When it comes to clothes, boys, my favourite perfume, "staying in at the weekend", my hair colour; I rarely stay on one option for very long. Well it is a woman's prerogative to change her mind after all. And yet, through all my fashion phases and colour obsessions and buying a million of something before going off it a few months down the line, stripes remain the constant in my life. No matter what other phase I'm going through (current ones include but are not limited to; bodysuits (mesh in particular), blush pink and navy blue), stripes remain a love in my wardrobe and in my life. I just think they're such a timeless look. And apparently my striped pieces stay loved too. In a wardrobe where each piece rarely lasts 6 months (never mind a year), I've actually had this top for 2 and a half years now. I just think it's really cute, the sleeve length is my favourite and the crop is perfect to go with high waisted skirts or trousers. Like with these nude trousers (another wardrobe favourite). I have a thing about colour balancing though so I had to even out my black top and light bottoms with some black shoes. Why I chose these I do not know. In theory they should be comfy; chunky heel, ankle support, not too high of a heel. And yet they are one of my most painful pairs. So what do I do? Wear them anyway. Well I do believe in suffering for your art. I finished the outfit with my khaki duster jacket (mainly because I haven't worn it in ages - most of my jackets would've matched this monochrome outfit) and then Twig lipstick.
