Read my lips
I've wanted to try Gerard cosmetics lipsticks for ages but as an American brand, it seemed like too much hassle to try and get hold of them. Then when I was buying Laura some makeup brushes for her birthday a couple of weeks ago, I stumbled across the Beauty Bay website and now my life is forever changed. Not only do they have Gerard cosmetics but loads of other brands that I want to try too including Morphe brushes. In fact, I've just been shopping there again and put in a £60 order this morning so you've got lots of lovely reviews to come in the next week or so.
I decided to try both a lipstick and a liquid matte lipstick but I'm always cautious trying out brands that I've never used before in case I don't like the finish on them but I was pleasantly surprised. This lipstick has a similar finish to a MAC Satin and is really creamy and long lasting. It was only £9.50 too so you can't go wrong! I went with the shade French Toast (which is a really warm reddish pink) but when I looked on Beauty Bay today the shade didn't seem to exist so I don't know if it's been discontinued or something? If you can get a hold of it though, I would highly recommend.
Liquid lipsticks are the trend of choice at the minute and I've tried ones by Lime Crime, MUA and Chanel and every single one has a totally different finish so I wasn't sure what to expect. Out of all of them, the Gerard one is most similar to the Lime Crime; really matte and long lasting and applies really nicely. The Chanel has a gloss top coat so it's slightly different and the MUA is quite drying and flaky (but what can you expect when it's like £2). Again, this was £9.50 and Beauty Bay even have buy-one-get-one-half-price on Gerard cosmetics right now. I went with the shade Cher which is a really nice deep blueish pink and quite different to anything I already own. I now have such a big lipstick collection that trying out new ones can prove quite tricky but this one gets a yes from me.
