Hello giant beauty haul
Okay so it's not like I would ever describe myself as 'sensible with money' but spending £160 on make up in the space of 2 days felt reckless even for me. But in all fairness, a lot of it was stuff that I really needed and the rest, well everything was too pretty not to buy. First up was Boots and I love shopping in Boots because not only do they always have some kind of deal on cosmetics but I also always have vouchers to get extra advantage card points. The eyelashes were on a 2 for 1 deal; the Eylure No 143 are my favourite ever lashes and I really needed some new ones, and Maybelline had a buy-one-get-second-half-price deal so I restocked on my favourite mascara which had run out (the lash sensational in extreme black - I'm not sure what the difference between black and extreme black is but I went with the latter) and if you're a fan of benefit's roller lash mascara but want a cheaper alternative, this one is exactly like it (maybe even better) and is only £7.99 compared to the roller lash at £19. Another high end dupe is the Maybelline brow satin pencil which seems very similar to the ABH brow wiz. Okay so I haven't actually tried the brow wiz because I'm reluctant to pay £15 for a brow pencil when you can get them for as little as £3, but I imagine it's a similar pencil - it looks the same. I already have this pencil in the shade Dark brown but I think it is a bit too dark for me while I have blonde hair so I thought I'd give the Medium brown a try. I really love Maybelline Color show nail polishes and they've just bought out a new Blushed nudes collection so I picked up a couple in the shades 448 Mod Mauve and 449 Crimson Flush (which are neither mauve or crimson so I'm not sure who was in charge of naming them but they should probably consider a different career). I also restocked my L'Oreal super liner perfect slim in intense black (again, not sure how that really differs from just black) and then I bought some dry shampoo because I've never actually owned any and I think it's one of those essentials that every girl should have. I went with the Batiste in tropical because I'm obsessed with coconut; I love coconut shower gel, coconut sun tan oil, coconut cocktails and coconut cake.
Next up was Beauty Bay, who I was seriously impressed with when I bought a couple of Gerard cosmetics lippies and some make up brushes for Laura's birthday so I thought I'd go on their site and do a proper shop. I've followed Morphe brushes on instagram for ages and always wanted to try them out but I've been put off by the expensive US shipping fees so when I found I could order them from Beauty Bay with free delivery I couldn't resist. I think that sometimes, there are things that you just HAVE to buy because there's a gap in your make up collection. In this case, I felt like I really needed a fan brush (the G23 fan brush) for highlight and an eyebrow brush (M158 spoolie and liner brush). I think the spoolie might genuinely be the best thing I've ever bought. It just makes your eyebrows look really neat yet natural and brushes any product evenly through. Verdict: seriously impressed. Even after buying my favourite Eylure lashes, when I saw that the Morphe lashes are only £2.85 a pair I thought I'd try a few! I went with the 82, 205 and 218 and I haven't worn them properly yet but I've tried them on and I love them all. I also couldn't resist some of their eyeshadow palettes (even though I probably own every possible eyeshadow shade already); I went with the 12NB and the 12S palettes. One is made up of 12 various shimmer shades and one is made up of a mix of matte and shimmer warm shades. I haven't tried the second one yet but I used the shimmer palette the other night and the pigmentation is really good and the colours are dreamy. And because my love for Beauty Bay began because of Gerard cosmetics, I obviously had to buy a couple more. This time I went with 1995 and Berry smoothie and I love them both. I also got a free Make up geek eyeshadow (shade In the spotlight) worth £5.95 because I spent over a certain amount - how cute!
Despite owning 64 lipsticks, 18 of which are MAC, I apparently felt that my collection needed 3 more. Well technically Taupe, my favourite lipstick of all time and the one I wear on nearly all nights out, had completely run out and needed replacing but it wouldn't be right to only order one lipstick so I did a bit of browsing and settled on Mehr (a pink somewhere between Brave and Twig) and Captive (similar to Plumful). So I might've bought 2 more lipsticks than I really needed but when I looked through to try and pick which ones I wanted, I originally had 8 in my basket which I cut down to 3 so I basically saved money. Atleast that's what I'm telling myself to make me feel less bad.
