Going up on a tuesday
Up to Sheffield that is, to see my not-so-long-lost best friend Laura. To say we only met at college, I think we've done pretty well to stay just as close for the last two years of knowing eachother as we were the first two years of knowing each other, despite being in different cities the majority of the time. Luckily Sheffield isn't that far away and with the train fare being only like £10 return, I thought it was about time for a little trip.
We had a major fail once I got there. We had planned to go to a tapas restaurant, only to get there at half 12 and find out it doesn't open until 4 - awkward. So we went for a good old Italian instead at Strada (we wanted to eat somewhere that we don't have in Nottingham). The food was amazing and even better, I've just downloaded a tastecard which does 2 for 1 meals at loads of different restaurants so for 3 courses plus a glass of wine it was only £16.50 each! If you don't already have one then definitely get yourself one - it's £1 (or free if you're a student) for the first 3 months. and then £4 after that. We obviously had a lot to catch up on because we were in there for nearly 3 hours. I think it's safe to say that we outstayed our welcome.
Then after another long catch up, plenty of selfies and plenty of hilarious selfie fails (courtesy of a half-broken selfie stick that we attempted to use), we headed for a night out; I wore jeans (shock horror) with a black lace bralet (Missguided) and then this really nice teal wrap top by warehouse which I actually got in the sale at ASOS - my boots are also from ASOS for anyone wondering, although you can get the same kind of acrylic heel style from Topshop and Public Desire, to name a few. We ended up in Viper rooms, which has been my favourite place that I've been to on the few occasions that I've been to sheffield on a night out. Plus it was 2 for 1 cocktails so it was a really cheap night! Apparently after 1 too many said cocktails, I'm happy to be dragged into photos with random people (despite the fact that I don't like club photos and do my best to avoid them the rest of the time).
I didn't feel too bad the next day (thank god) so we headed out for a brunch at Anchorage to sort us out. Not the most conventional meal you'll ever see - I had chicken, waffles and syrup and Laura had pork belly eggs benedict and then we both got fries. Now that's something you won't find on many menus. I wore black jeans (Topshop), striped wrap top (also Topshop), tan coat (Missguided) and then the same acrylic heel boots as the night before (ASOS).
The weather was horrible (and despite Laura saying it was no different, it was definitely colder up in Sheffield than it was in Nottingham!) so we did something indoors - mini golf! I haven't played mini golf in years and was always terrible at it while my family were really good and competitive with it. But I must've improved with time or something because I actually got 3 hole-in-one's in 1 game! Okay so I also got an 8, a 9 and a couple of 7's but I'm choosing to focus on the positives. I'm an optimist like that. I'm also obviously an all or nothing kind of girl. And of course, I had to choose a pink ball.
Then we finished off a lovely few days with cocktails at Chiquitos - I definitely need to make trips up to see Laura a more regular thing!
