January favourites

Let's be honest - none of us really like January. It's hard to explain why exactly, it's just not a very good month. So now that it's February and we're all happier, it's time to reflect on the bits of January that actually were good. My January favourites...

Total shocker that a TV series is on this list! Okay so it's no surprise to anyone that I spent a lot of my January binge-watching Netflix episodes, mainly due to being hungover (my "Dry January" pretty much consisted of going out and getting smashed atleast once a week if not twice oops). Before Reign turned up on my recommended list I hadn't even heard of it but I watched a promo for it and saw that it was likened to other American shows like Pretty Little Liars and so I decided to give it a go. And omg I fell in love. I swallowed all 2 and a half seasons in about 2 and a half days (slight exaggeration but only slight). The characters are beautifully complex, the whole show is full of sex, scandal, betrayal, politics and murder and the costume department is just perfect. Being based on the story of Mary Queen of Scots' marriage to King Francis II, it's actually quite historically correct but it comes up with fun ways of interpreting things that actually happened. And weirdly, it's actually got me interested in history again. Once I ran out of episodes, I started watching The Tudors (which is set in the same time period but just a tiny bit earlier) and it's good but it's not a patch on Reign.

Another thing I spent a lot of time doing through January is baking (again, not exactly surprising). Something that I asked for for Christmas was an ice cream scoop like this where you squeeze the handle and it has a mechanism to scoop out the contents. It's literally perfect for doing cupcakes! Instead of messing around with loads of different spoons to scrape mix into cases, you just need the one scoop that releases automatically and you get nice even sized cupcakes too!

Also a Christmas present, this wrap shirt has been a big favourite for me this month. I love the style and sleeve length and I think the burgundy running through it works really well with the black and white - mum did well to buy me a piece of clothing that I actually really like!

When graze boxes first came out, I gave them a try seeing as the first one was free and I always thought they were really good but I ended up not eating them and I just had a big stack in the cupboard so I cancelled it. But then I got sent a code for 4 boxes for £10 (they're normally £3.99 each) so I decided that they'd be good to get sent to the office so I had snacks for work. And I'm loving them so far! I spend 2 or 3 days in the office each week so it's a snack or two a day which is literally the perfect amount and so far I haven't been sent anything that I didn't love!

Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world right? Well these are definitely the right shoes. Beautiful and comfortable in equal measures, these were a total bargain at only £16 (from New look at ASOS). They're great for making a shirt-and-jeans combo look like the nicest outfit in the world and they're pretty easy to walk in to say that they're stilettos, which I normally struggle with.

Marc Jacobs does it again. I already love my Marc Jacobs watch and my Daisy Dream fragrance and so when I saw that he'd bought out this new one, Decadence, I was pretty sure I'd love it even before trying it out. It is literally the nicest scent, nothing too fruity or floral, and it's the longest lasting one I've ever used - it lasts all day even when I'm working at McDonalds. Whenever I wear it, I always get compliments on it too. One of my managers even said it was so nice that he was tempted to buy it for himself (I'm yet to work out whether or not he's gay but the compliment is still a pretty good one either way).
