GRWM: valentine's day
Okay so clearly I'm not as on the ball this year as I was last year in terms of Valentine's day because I haven't had time to put outfits or a gift guide or anything together (FYI, red roses are definitely not on my unwritten gift guide because they're a cliche and I've seen about 1000 photos of them today. Pink peonies are my flower of choice) but I didn't want to let the day go by unmarked so instead of spending the usual lazy sunday totally makeup-less, I thought I'd put together a little Valentine's makeup look. And for once in my life I've actually been really helpful and linked all the products that I used (round of applause for Jenni).
I was going for quite a light, dewy look with lots of pink and highlight so I started off by applying Rimmel wake me up foundation (I used shade 200 Soft Beige) and then added Ooh la lift under my eyes to brighten them and then added a light contour using my define and conquer palette, applying the light shade under my eyes, across the middle of my forehead and on my chin, and then the dark shade in the hollows of my cheeks, over my temples and up along the top of my forehead.
Then for a the fun part - the highlight! I used high beam by Benefit and I added it along the tops of my cheek bones, under my eyebrows, on my cupids bow and a little down my nose. I also added Rockateur blusher because it's a really nice shimmery rose gold colour and then I filled in my brows using the shade Naked from my Naked palette on an angled Zoeva brush.
In keeping with my pink shimmery vision, I used my Naked 3 palette to create my eye makeup look. I applied Liar all over my lids and then blended Blackheart through my crease and along my lower lashline. I feel like the shade names of the ones I used subconsciously reflect my single life. I added Dust as a highlight in the inner corners and then added winged eyeliner, for which I used the No7 felt tip eyeliner because I find these the easiest to use. I finished with mascara; my current favourite is lash sensational by Maybelline.
Everyone knows that no make up look is truly complete without lipstick. Of course my choices were by MAC, because I believe that when it comes to lipstick, once you go MAC you don't really go back. I lined my lips and filled them in with Soar lip liner and then went over with Twig lipstick. And that's it! Hope you all had a lovely day whatever you got up to (even if you were only sat in your dressing gown putting make up on like I was). Happy Valentine's Day!
