3 reasons why life is good right now

I like to think that I'm more of an optimist than a pessimist. Well actually I'm a realist because if asked if the glass was half empty or half full, I would say that it depends whether or not someone filled it to the top and then emptied half or if they only filled it halfway to begin with. But in general, I'm a pretty positive and happy person and I don't tend to let things get to me; I have a way of just thinking that everything will work out in the end so I don't get too down about things when they don't go how I'd hoped. Maybe that's because I'm also a fatalist but that's probably a conversation for another time. But anyway, I think that there are too many people who have a tendency to focus on the negative. Yes there are always terrible things happening all over the world like war and poverty and starvation and abuse but there are also so many wonderful things happening all the time; people getting married and people travelling the world and people discovering new medicines and people winning the lottery. There are also so many lovely things happening every single second; dogs getting adopted and people losing their virginities and girls finding the perfect shade of lipstick and pizzas being sold and photographs being taken and books being written and people saying 'I love you' and smiles and dreaming and laughter. So no matter how small or insignificant you think something is, if you think it's a good thing then you should be happy about it because life is a beautiful thing and there's so much to smile about. Here are 3 reasons why I'm happy with my life right now.

1. It's going to be an amazing summer

My family have an ongoing joke surrounding birthdays. We pretty much have every single family members birthday from February to June, with the only one after mine being my Grandad's. And while you know I make a (very) big deal out of my birthday, noone else in the family makes a big thing of their own so I pretty much start getting excited for my birthday straight after Christmas while stepping on everyone else's toes. Sorry guys but this year is the big 20 so I think I have a right to be excited. Not only is it my birthday in June but we're also going to Ibiza! (play video now). Last night we finally booked this years girls holiday for July; we'll be staying in the Gran Sol hotel in San Antonio and I plan on getting very drunk and very tanned. Oh and probably very poor too because it'll be so expensive. And to top all that off, I'm also going on a 2 and a half week holiday to Florida in August with half the time doing the theme parks in Orlando and then half the time shopping in Miami. So I'm almost going from Miami to Ibiza. It's safe to say that 2016 is going to be a good year.

2. My hair is finally looking good again

Yes it may be a shallow reason but I think that you have to take happiness from anywhere and everywhere that you find it. I already had pretty bad roots when I rang up to make a hairdressers appointment and they told me that my hairdresser wouldn't be back from maternity leave for another 4 weeks so they were like 2 inches long by this morning when I finally went and got them sorted out. So today I got my hair highlighted and toned and I feel all fresh and new again!

3. My work contract has been extended

When I got my part time job at UNiDAYS it was a 6 month fixed term contract so by the end of this month I didn't know whether or not I'd still be working there. But I found out this week that they've extended it by another 3 months so I'm job safe until summer now! Which means I've got plenty of time and money to shop for my Ibiza and Miami wardrobes!
