The good, the bad and the ugly of 2015
I don't know why but I always seem to enjoy even numbered years more than odd numbered ones. It's not just me being OCD either, it is just a weird coincidence and even though 2015 was an odd number, it was still a pretty amazing year! And so much has happened, not just to me but to the world in general and in pop culture; the good, the bad and the ugly (in no particular order)...
Back in the 90s, the euphemism was inviting someone up for coffee or something but thanks to 2015 we now have the phrase 'netflix and chill'. Oh what a time to be alive.
Bruce Jenner did a better job of breaking the internet than his step-daughter Kim ever did when he introduced Caitlyn to the world with this iconic Vanity Fair cover. I reckon Kris is still pissed that she spelled it with a C and not a K.
Turns out that Madonna should've paid better attention to Edna Mode when she said 'no capes!' because hers ended up being her downfall at this years Brit awards - literally.
Before 2015, a belieber was almost always a 13/14 year old with posters all over her bedroom wall. But last year we all got on board with his music whether we liked it or not. And in the biggest comeback in forever, Adele broke records with Hello. Personally, I just want to know how she gets her winged eyeliner so perfect.
For an interesting month or so, the whole of twitter became intelligent adults with opinions about our society and our future. Then the results came in and we all went back to tweeting about our hangovers and retweeting funny cat videos. Just for the record, I'm still glad I voted Conservative #sorrynotsorry.
This not only broke the internet but it also tested friendships and tore families apart; is the dress white and gold or blue and black? I could only ever see blue and black (I tired my best to see white and gold but my mind was having none of it), as could my brother which caused many arguments between us and our mum and dad who could only see white and gold. I'd just like to add that we were actually right, the dress is blue and black. Of course the most important thing is not what colour it is, but the fact that it's ugly.
I was underwhelmed with the Alexander Wang collaboration from 2014 but I was really excited about this Balmain collection. I didn't actually buy anything from it (because I was still asleep by the time it had all but sold out) but I loved it none the less.
This song showed no signs of making history until the video was released, along with countless hilarious edits and memes. I still can't work out if the whole thing was intended to be a joke or not.
We waited 6 years and this year A was finally revealed to us. Spoiler alert (if you've been living under a rock or something): A is Cece who is secretly Alison's long lost transgender brother Charles. Everyone seemed to be confused and disappointed by the episode but I actually thought it was really good! Plus PLL comes back in like 10 days thank the lord.
The whole world celebrated when the US voted to make same sex marriage legal across all 50 states and it was so cute seeing old couples who had been together for years finally able to make it official.
If you don't have a girl crush on both of these two then you are 100% lying. They are the world's sweet hearts right now and have walked for countless different shows during Fashion week, fronted the Balmain x H&M collection and then became the two newest Victoria's secret angels. If I could swap lives with anyone for the day it would definitely be one of these two.
Welcome to the most awkward moment of 2015 (and possibly ever). Miss Columbia was wrongly named as Miss Universe when actually it was Miss Philippines who had won, meaning that a very awkward de-crowning ceremony followed. Steve Harvey, you have a lot to answer for.
This year has been pretty big film-wise, kicking off in February with the first film in the Fifty shades of grey trilogy. After reading the books, I thought it did a pretty good of sticking to it but it had to miss so much out because of the timing. Plus I don't think Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson have very good chemistry. From one trilogy to the next, the Hunger games trilogy (or saga, whatever you want to call it) came to an end with the Mockingjay part 2 which was soooo amazing, and again stuck to the book almost exactly. Finally it was the newest Star Wars film, The force awakens which I haven't seen because I usually don't start off with the 7th film in a series but my family said it was really good. To say it was only released 13 days before the end of the year, it did pretty well to bag the number 2 spot on the list of highest grossing films of 2015.
I did wonder that if I were to die, would I have enough time to be reincarnated as Princess Charlotte but then I remembered that I'm already a princess and so the whole thing was unnecessary. Once Saint West was born, then came the tricky question of which 2015 baby was higher up in royalty.
My 2015 wasn't nearly as monumental as my 2014 was but it was still pretty amazing and if anything, it was pretty much the same. I've still been going out every week and getting way drunker than I should and embarrassing myself and enjoying myself and spending time with all the people I love the most and making new friends and going into work still drunk and spending all my money on clothes. It doesn't matter what the year is, I'm still Jenni from the block. But I did do some pretty cool stuff in 2015.
I actually went on quite a lot of trips and holidays last year, kicking off with Amsterdam way back in February, followed by No Tomorrow festival and a day at Drayton Manor in the summer and then I went on 2 amazing summer holidays to Zante with my best friends and then to Portugal with my family. It's safe to say that I definitely miss my tan. Then more recently, I spent the weekend in Sheffield for Katie's birthday and then spent the weekend before Christmas in London, shopping and sight seeing and eating some pretty amazing food (I promise that the diet will start soon).
The biggest thing that happened to me this year was getting my new job! After interning through 2014 and up until this summer, the lack-of-money situation was getting tricky. That was until I managed to bag myself the job at UNiDAYS as Social Media And Content Assistant (which I'm so grateful to my internship for because without it, I probably never would have got the job). I literally love my job and all the people I work with, in particular my amazing social team. Oh and we also have Cake Thursday's. I bet you can't say that your job is that cool.
Another pretty big change this year is that I left the dark side to see if blonde's really do have more fun. Going blonde took 5 hours in the hairdresser's but it was definitely worth it. Although I've got pretty bad roots right now so I should probably get it touched up. And just to confirm, I'm having a lot of fun being blonde so maybe the saying is true.
And finally, I managed to hit 20,000 blog views on the very last day of the year! To say I wasn't even at 7,000 views at this time last year, I'm pretty happy about it. I also had my first blog collaboration and giveaway with HairChalk.Co which was pretty exciting! I'm not sure if anyone's wondering about my New Year's resolutions but just in case; 1. Learn to drive, 2. Eat healthier and exercise more, 3. Get a tattoo, 4. Buy myself a designer handbag. But apart from that, I'm not planning any major changes in my life or to myself. There's going to be none of that 'new year, new me' stuff around here. I plan to continue being the same sassy, opinionated bitch who spends all her money on clothes and alcohol that I've always been and hopefully you'll continue reading. Happy 2016 everyone!
Netflix and chill

The Madonna cape fail
Turns out that Madonna should've paid better attention to Edna Mode when she said 'no capes!' because hers ended up being her downfall at this years Brit awards - literally.
Adele and Justin Bieber take over the world

The general election

The Miss Universe de-crowning
Welcome to the most awkward moment of 2015 (and possibly ever). Miss Columbia was wrongly named as Miss Universe when actually it was Miss Philippines who had won, meaning that a very awkward de-crowning ceremony followed. Steve Harvey, you have a lot to answer for.
