My lips like sugar
The gaps inbetween these new-mac-lipstick posts are getting smaller and so if you listen really carefully, you can hear the sound of my bank account crying and telling me to stop. And as if it's genetically programmed into my brain, I just typed 'shop' instead of 'stop' - clearly I have a problem. But not one to look on the down side, even though I'm down £46.50; I do have 3 beautiful new shades to add to my ever-growing collection. So ever-growing that I also had to a buy a new lipstick holder.
I've gone with all-matte-everything this time around and kicking off the matte shades is Persistence. I've wanted this one for ages but it's never in store and I avoid lipstick shopping online if I can because I like to test them first. But this one didn't disappoint; it's a beautiful dark brown-nude and it's very similiar in tone to Taupe (my all time favourite), but it's slightly darker so it's not too samey.
This one is VERY different from the kinds of colours I usually go for. I've not been a massive fan of brights for years now (I only wear red very occasionally) but I've been looking for a new bright pink and I really wanted one with blue undertones; nothing too warm. Flat Out Fabulous is exactly that; really cool toned and super bright! It's actually a retro matte finish which I've never used before and I have to say I'm not a massive fan; it's quite drying.
Completing the line up is Stone which I've gone backwards and forwards on for months now before finally taking the plunge. When I first saw others wearing it, it looked like a neutral brown but on me it's a VERY grey-brown. I actually like that though because it's so unlike any other shade I've used before. I've realised that it's really hard for me to judge lipsticks based on photos of other people because most people have either cool or warm toned skin, whereas I have olive toned skin so it's really hard to compare. Note why I normally prefer to shop in-store but with the run-up to Christmas and all the confused boyfriends and excited teenage girls flooding to MAC, I think I'll just wait a while for my next lipstick installment.
