It was only a kiss
Payday treated me well this month so I decided to go on a bit of a makeup spree; okay fine a lot of a makeup spree. My hair is in serious need of TLC and I want a bit of a change - I don't like the fact that my hair is so brassy because of how much sun got to it on my two summer holidays so I want to dye it a really ashy brown. Cue hair dye plus silver shampoo to get the yellow tones out. Although it's technically for blonde hair, I'm pretty sure it'll still work. You'll see in a couple of days anyway how it turns out. I stocked up on brow tint too because unluckily for me, I have naturally fair eyebrows despite being a natural brunette. I also really wanted a new makeup brush for contouring but seeing as I only bother doing it for nights out, I didn't want to spend like £20 on a brush. This 'look good feel better' brush was £12 and it's the exact kind I wanted; a really fluffy angled brush. Even better, this company supports women who are struggling with the physical effects of cancer so it's a good deed as well as a good buy. I also took a trip to MAC in search of Persistence lipstick and when they didn't have it, I bought four others. And I wonder why I never have money.
The first lipstick I got was Paramount which is a satin finish (my fave as you probably know by now) and it's a gorgeous reddish brown colour with really warm undertones which I think will be great for Autumn.
I buy red lipsticks so rarely because I'm usually a believer that one signature red lipstick is enough and most reds are the same but I just had to buy this one. Chili is so unlike any other red I've tested out before; it's a kind of brick red with a hint of orange through it. It's a matte finish which I think works well with red because it's designed to be a statement lip.
Autumn is coming and so dark burgundy and berry tones are a must. Sin is the kind of berry that would suit everyone and I love that it strikes the perfect balance between red and purple. Again it's a matte finish but it's super matte (like Ruby Woo) so it's quite drying.
I've wanted a brown lipstick for a while now and I've heard amazing things about Stone but when I tested it out it was grey so I ended up getting Film Noir instead. I was stuck between that and Antique Velvet (which is matte) but I ended up going for this one because it's a satin finish and I didn't want one that was too similar to Sin.
I thought that while I was at it on the lipstick front, I may aswell show you my entire MAC lipstick collection. Obviously I arrange my lipsticks in some kind of colour order (OCD alert) so the first line is nudes (or nudes plus a couple of nude-ish colours). From left to right: Paramount (satin), Retro (satin), Whirl (matte), Taupe (matte), Spirit (satin), Velvet Teddy (matte).
The second row is colours (which get quite a lot less wear out of them with the exception of Twig). From left to right: Ruby Woo (matte), Chili (matte), Up the amp (amplified), Plumful (lustre), Twig (satin), Brave (satin).
The last row is a quite a lot shorter because it's darks and I don't think you need as many. From left to right: Film noir (satin), Sin (matte), Verve (satin).
