Confessions of a shopaholic

It's been so ridiculously long since I've had the chance to write a blog like this! Not only have I not had enough money to buy the millions of clothes that my heart desires because of working my unpaid internship and saving for holidays, but even when I have had money to buy new things I've not had any free time to get blog photos in them. And so on a rare day off this weekend, I actually got time to shoot photos for all the beautiful new goodies I bought with my first UNiDAYS wages (they didn't last long as you might've guessed). And this is only new look and public desire! To save me repeating myself through the entire post, all the clothes are new look (including the belts) and all the shoes are public desire (excluding the snake print ones in the last outfit, which were from missguided ages ago). I am also wearing either Paramount or Brave lipstick in all the photos - it's pretty easy to work out which is which; Paramount is the dark one. You might want to get comfy and get a cup of tea or something because this is a long one.

I can't even explain how much I love this dress - before I ordered it, I worried that it would be an unflattering see-through fabric but it's actually really soft and comfy and I love the roll neck. I also like how the belt gives it definition and I added these beautiful khaki lace up boots which I think will be perfect through Autumn.

Another of my favourite colours for the new season is this rust/burnt orange colour. I felt like my wardrobe was lacking some basic essentials so I got a couple of plain high neck tops that would go with anything. Including this amazing half-faux-leather and half-faux-suede olive green skirt which is actually a little bit big so maybe go down a size in this. Again, I added the same khaki boots.

I have recently fallen head-over-heels for shirt dresses - so watch me buy about 200 of them over the next couple of months. I just think they're so perfect for both work and casual so you don't need to worry about buying separate pieces for each. It did come with a D-ring fabric belt that matches the dress but I swapped it for this black one because I thought that it tied the outfit together better with the black boots. I feel like I have way too many black boots and shoes (which I probably do) but I'm really picky with them because the heel has to be high enough but still chunky and the toe has to be round-pointed rather than totally round or square. And the pair I wear for almost every night out desperately need replacing so these babies came at exactly the right time.

My laptop doesn't always show clothes to be true-to-colour and so when I bought this mustard yellow shirt, I was worried it would turn up and be way too bright. But actually the opposite happened - it's a lot darker than I expected and I love it even more because of that. I kept this outfit very plain and simple (because sometimes less is more) by adding a black skirt (because every girl should have the perfect black skirt for any outfit and any occasion in her wardrobe) and the same black boots.

Obviously, because this is me that we're talking about, I couldn't leave the shirt dresses at just the one. As well as the burgundy, I also got it in this gorgeous burnt orange colour (slightly more orange than the top). I wouldn't have stopped there because I wanted it in dark grey too but a higher force must've intervened because the grey one was out of stock when I came to buy it. I wore this one with the belt it came with because I was going for a more understated look and made my statement instead with these amazing shoes. They're fierce, sassy and tan - everything a girl hopes to be.

In my opinion, I've saved the best ones until last (as you always should). This skirt couldn't fit me more perfectly if it had been custom made and although I've not been a fan of the whole 70s trend, this is a piece I can get on board with. I've already told you how much I love all things brown at the minute. I didn't go overboard and buy 2 of the exact same top - I just used the same top again for this outfit and finished with these taupe suede boots, which are the same style as the black ones so of course I love them.

Oh okay it turns out I lied; these shoes aren't public desire, they're actually new look and they're my favourite piece in this whole haul. If you've got a keen eye for fashion and have a good memory then you'll see that these are dupes for the iconic Valentino rock stud heels and you'll know that that's my favourite designer and I dream of a wardrobe filled with all-valentino-everything. Plus they're actually comfy (I worried they wouldn't be because my other pointed court shoes hurt worse than if you were to just chop your feet off altogether). Like I said I felt my wardrobe was lacking in basics and I thought this grey roll neck would look nice with a lot of my winter wardrobe. You can see the rust obsession forming already - this rust skirt fits so perfectly and it'll look nice with either bare legs or black tights.

I told you brown was the new black. This brown AX Paris dress (from new look) fits me so perfectly and it's such a beautiful thick fabric so that and the long sleeves will be great in winter. It's a kind of double layer, so the hem of the top is around the waistline which I think gives it a nice shape and the chocolatey colour is perfect. Almost good enough to eat.
