My holiday lookbook
I'm back in England! And I have to say that I'm not overly thrilled at coming back after enjoying a week by the pool in 37 degree heat, but coming back to a double pay day helped with the holiday blues. Don't worry - this post is not instead of a full holiday blogpost but I thought I'd give you a sneak peak in to my holiday wardrobe before I show you what I got up to while I was away. These are all night time outfits as in the day I mostly just wore bikinis and a kimono but there are a couple of day time outfits that I wanted to show you too. The outfit I wore on my first night was probably my favourite. I've been lusting after all things lace-up for ages and so when I finally bought this black bodysuit from missguided, I couldn't wait to wear it. I paired it with these zebra print runner shorts (primark) and black heeled jelly shoes (new look) which were not the best idea when the strip was a 10 minute walk down the beach away from our hotel, meaning I had sand in my shoes the entire time I was out.
Clearly I didn't learn my lesson with the shoes because I still wore them again the next night; this time with black floral printed shorts (topshop) and a dusky pink racer style crop which was only about £5 from new look.
We went out for dinner before going out on the third night which is why the photo was taken when it was still light. Even though this dress (topshop) was from way over a year ago, I still love it just as much as the day I bought it. It's a gorgeous thick scuba fabric so it's really comfortable and flattering and I think the print is a timeless summer classic. I also love the black and white ribbed edging round the collar because I think it finishes it off perfectly. I added tan sandals with gold detailing which were only about £7 from new look and were one of my last minute holiday buys.
I always forget how much I love this bodysuit (from river island) and then when I wear it, I wonder why I don't wear it more often. I'm not always a fan of bright colours but it looks great for nights out or on holiday and it's got little black mesh panels on the side that are a nice detail. Because it's so printed and colourful, it doesn't match with much so I kept the bottom half simple with denim shorts (missguided) and white leather converse.
Our 4th night was the night of the white party which is pretty much exactly what it says on the tin; a party on a private island where everyone dresses in white. I'll obviously tell you more about that in my next blogpost because that was my favourite night and I got some great photos but the outfit was pretty easy to plan. This crochet white dress was from missguided and the racer neckline is my favourite so it was a winner for me. I added white leather converse and wore my hair curly (my natural holiday hair which I only had to add 1 or 2 curls to round the front).
I didn't notice at the time but I seem to have stuck with the white from then on. I wore this high neck white top (missguided) with these blue tropical print runner shorts (also missguided) and then finished with my tan and gold sandals. And no I wasn't extremely shiny and no I didn't have some kindof accident with a highlighter palette - we went to a UV glow party on this night so we went OTT with the glitter palette and loaded it on.
Still sticking with the white; on the last night I went with a white plunging bralet (so I had to wear a triangle bikini in the day rather than a bandeau one in preparation for the tan lines and how it would look with the top) and paired it with these animal printed shorts that were from topshop last year, along with my white leather converse.
The only two notable daytime outfits that I did want to show you were these. This mint green missguided playsuit is one of my absolute favourites and all the black edging makes it really flattering and gives it a nice shape that I think some playsuits often lack. The second outfit was originally planned as a night time outfit but I realised I had one too many so I wore it in the day instead and I actually think it worked better that way round. The pink and green palm tree print runner shorts were a missguided bargain and looked really nice with this crochet top (also missguided). The reason it worked better in the day is because I was wearing a bright bikini underneath which you could half see through the crochet and because the bikini was pink, it tied the outfit together nicely. Now we've got the appetizers out the way, it's time to prepare for the main course. Keep an eye out for my full zante blogpost which will be up tomorrow night!
