Little white dress

For years, we've been lead to believe that the most essential thing in any girls wardrobe is a little black dress (or LBD for those of you slightly more fluent in fashion-speak). But as a lover of clothes who doesn't actually own a plain black dress, I'm putting forward a different theory. The thing that every girl should own is actually a little white dress (or LWD). This one was from river island and is the non-identical twin sister of the taupe dress that featured in one of my latest blogposts. It was £40 and I just love the mesh paneling. The loose shift style makes it ideal for when you're mid-heatwave like we are currently and it works well for both day and night. After my heels-in-the-heat faux-pas the other day, I went with flat (well platforms, which are as flat as I'll actually wear) black sandals instead which were from lamoda about a year ago. I did have them in white too which I wore all the time last summer but sadly the velcro got ruined so they're living out the rest of their days in a hotel room in Hawaii where I left them (*cries at the memory*). I accessorized with a gold pendant necklace that says 'amour' on it, black and gold Olivia Burton watch and gold hoop earrings. I also wore my hair up (which almost never happens) because wearing my hair down the other day made me way too hot. Then I finished with Bourjois rouge edition lipstick in the shade 31 Beige shooting.

I was really excited when this arrived the other day and so I just had to show you. At christmas, I bought acrylic makeup storage; a nail varnish stand, a lipstick holder and a brush pot. But obviously I have some kind of problem because the 24-space-lipstick-holder was over flowing and so I needed to buy more makeup storage. Because I've accumulated a few lip liners and liquid-to-matte lipsticks that don't fit in the holders, I went with a slightly different style. This one has 12 lipstick spaces with a shelf behind it, 2 taller compartments ideal for lip liners etc. and then an open area for powder or whatever takes your fancy and then 3 drawers which I've filled with eye shadow individuals, the few foundations that I actually own, and all the chubby stick lipsticks that I barely ever wear because I forget that I've got them when they're shoved in a cupboard somewhere. It was only £15 from eBay so I'd definitely recommend investing in one. And my OCD just loves how pretty and organised everything now looks.
