Cocktails, cava and a colossal amount of food

I've been feeling sooo tired today after a pretty amazing weekend (although that might have something to do with the fact that I was up until 2:30 last night watching The Originals). Against my usual habits, I actually didn't go out on thursday and instead went for a sophisticated cocktail night on saturday. And I actually wore trousers to town! I often accidentally break the boobs-or-legs rule so I stuck to it completely this time by wearing a plunging mesh bodysuit (new look) with camel high waisted trousers (missguided) that I turned up at the bottom. Although the fabric is quite thin so the bottom of the bodysuit kindof showed through so I'm guessing people thought I had a really bad VPL; oh well. I finished my outfit with black caged heels (not black boots!!!) and then my Marc Jacobs watch and gold rings. I went with purple hued makeup so I started my eye makeup by applying Champagne from my Lorac 1 palette all over my eyelid. Then I added Plum from my Lorac 2 through my crease and along my lower lashline and then blended it upwards in a cat-eye shape. I added Deep purple from my Lorac 1 to add definition in the crease and outer corners and then finished with liner, lashes and mascara. For my lips, I used a thin layer of my MUA liquid-to-matte lipstick in the shade Kooky and then used Up the amp by MAC over the top. For our first round of cocktails we went to happy hour at Turtle bay and I had a rum runner and something with passion fruit (sorry they all have weird Caribbean names so I can't remember it). Then we went to the Boiler maker, which we've all wanted to try for ages but have never got round to actually going. It's such a cool concept; it's an empty room with a boiler in it and a front desk and it's the kindof place that you wouldn't notice unless you knew it was there. Then you go through a door marked 'staff only' and end up in what looks like a toilet, before you push the sink which takes you through to the actual bar. It's a kind of alice-going-down-the-rabbit-hole sort of feeling. The drinks we had were really nice although they served some weird ones such as a coffee cocktail in a tea cup with a biscuit on the side and a crunchy-nut-cornflake-infused cocktail served in a cereal box.

On the sunday, I went for tapas with Laura (whose finally back from uni for the summer) and because it's coming up to my birthday, I had been sent a voucher for a free bottle of cava worth £22 (not too shabby). When I got home today, I also found that Boots had sent me a double points voucher for my birthday month and rock city had sent me 5 free tickets for any friday throughout my birthday month. See, everyone understands what a big deal my birthday is. I had a MASSIVE wardrobe clear out last week (totaling at 11 big bags full of stuff) and I made a point of trying on every single thing in my wardrobe before deciding whether to keep or get rid. So the other positive (apart from more wardrobe space freed up) is that I rediscovered some old clothes that I haven't worn in ages. Case and point, this grey dress. I got it from primark for literally about £10 almost 2 years ago and it was initially a midi dress but I didn't like it that length so I shortened it. It's not the greatest quality fabric because it's so cheap, meaning it's not that flattering, but I do love the sleeve length and I think it's such an easy piece to build outfits around. On this occasion, I wore it with my khaki duster coat (missguided) and pointed strappy new look boots which are so beautiful but so painful that I both love and hate them in equal measures. I went with a similiar makeup style to the night before but with a more neutral colour scheme - I used Champagne as my base (Lorac 1), Charcoal through my crease and under my eyes (Lorac 2) and then Black to add definition (Lorac 2). I finished the look with my kiko lip pencil in shade 304 which I'm so beyond in love with.
