MAC vs MUA
I hope you all enjoyed my previous blogpost which I wrote in a fairytale style - it's surprisingly hard to keep to all the way through! One of my favourite kind of posts though is comparison ones. Comparing the blowout product with it's much-cheaper-but-normally-just-as-good budget version. This time it's the battle of the 3 letter make up brands, MAC vs MUA! I've been lusting over strong purple lips at the minute after seeing Victoria from inthefrow wearing Heroine by MAC and I went on the hunt for my own perfect purple to see me through Spring.
Although I loved Heroine on Victoria, I thought it was a bit too vibrant for my skin colour and wanted something a little lighter. After covering my hand in testers (very risky business when you're wearing a white coat), I eventually landed on Up the amp in the cremesheen finish, which was £15.50. Up the amp is a gorgeous purple - halfway between lilac and bright purple - and I thought it was a nice summery shade. I've never bought a cremesheen lipstick before but I was pleasantly surprised - it's halfway between a satin finish and a lip butter; really glossy and nice to apply but with nice strong colour. The satin finish is still my favourite out of all of them but I think the added glossiness works well with this colour.
I've actually never tried the MUA brand before because it's exclusive to superdrug as far as I know and I don't have one that near to me anymore so I hardly ever go in, but I've heard only good things. Not only is it a ridiculously cheap brand but they also don't test on animals so it's good from that point of view too. I spotted this purple liquid-to-matte lipstick in shade Kooky and despite being part of their 'luxe' range, it was still only £3! It's a gorgeous deep rich colour (not quite as summery as the MAC one) and the staying power is incredible! So incredible infact it took atleast 5 minutes of scrubbing with a makeup wipe until it came off so you won't need to worry about reapplying! Application was a bit messy because it's a sponge applicator so I would say to wear it with a lip liner to get a nice neat finish. It's very similar to my Lime crime velvetine liquid-to-matte lipstick actually, although you can notice the difference in quality as the Lime crime version dries much quicker; the MUA lipstick stayed quite sticky for a long time. To say it's only £3 though it's an amazing product! If you're struggling to decide which to buy then I'd say to go with "the jenni option" (as my family call it); why choose one when you can have both? Oh and yes I am wearing pyjamas in that last photo, even princesses get to have lazy days.
