A weekend in the life of a fashioneaster
Well I hope everyone had as good of a bank holiday as I did! And mine was extra long because while most people worked thursday and then got Friday off, we basically chilled all of thursday too and spent it sipping costa's in the sunshine (and taking lots of photos too of course). I've been wanting a white/cream coat for ages and I finally bought this super long one from missguided for £40. Annoyingly it came with a crease around the bottom of it so I tried to iron it but ended up melting it a bit and messing up the iron so I decided the crease would have to stay (household appliance 1 - domestic goddess skills 0). I love it anyway and I think the extra length will look really nice with skirts and heels through spring. I kept it monochrome by wearing it over dogtooth shorts (river island) and a high neck striped top (new look), because you know that no print is complete without a clashing one to go with it. I finished with new look chunky shoes and then my Michael Kors watch.
"You didn't complete your outfit with a lipstick?!" I hear you cry, well that's because I was going to Rub smokehouse straight after work and I had a feeling that no lipstick, even my matte mac ones, would stand a chance against Belgium waffles, fried chicken and golden syrup. So wrong but so right! And they forgot to add my drink to the bill so I got a free glass of wine!
I did go out on thursday night but I forgot to take any photos so we're skipping ahead to saturday night which was Laura's birthday (she's back from uni for easter yay!). Despite the fact that I've owned this dress for well over a year, this was the first time I've actually worn it (oops). It was from missguided and I just love the mesh panel and the dreamy lilac colour. The colour was awkward for shoe-and-bag matching though; I decided on these stone and white caged sandals (new look) in the end and added my stressed-but-well-dressed clutch. I did a lilac smokey eye which made me feel like Victoria from inthefrow, using my Naked 2 and Naked 3 palettes and then added my lime crime velvetine liquid lipstick in Cashmere.
Then on sunday we had the famous littlehales annual easter egg hunt which we introduced my foster brother to. Needless to say he came in last place because he didn't realise how cut-throat of a competition it is but maybe he'll get the hang of it by next year. Obviously I won (because I'm a princess and a queen) and I had a total of 5 easter eggs, a lindt bunny, a chok-a-blok slab and a big bag of assorted mini eggs, milky bar eggs, creme eggs and kinder eggs by the end of it. Please someone come and take it all off me before I pile on 4 stone. As if the easter eggs weren't enough, we also had pudding baked by yours truly; cupcakes with chocolate nest toppers and creme egg brownies (click the links for recipes; for the cupcakes you can use any cupcake recipe of your choice). Seeing as I'm the baking queen, the score was evened out; household appliance 1 - domestic goddess skills 1.
Then it was time for round 2 (well technically round 3). I avoided wearing anything bodycon because I don't think it would've complemented my food baby; instead I wore this vertical striped skirt that was from missguided and paired it with a black racer crop (also missguided). I did a brown smokey eye using Naked from my Naked palette as my base and then adding shades such as Buck (Naked palette) and Espresso (Lorac palette) to define my crease. I went with a smudgy liner look under my eyes and added winged liner and false lashes before finishing with Taupe lipstick. Needless to say my heavy weekend caught up with me on Monday, which I spent hungover, tired and at work. Even Princesses have their off days I suppose.
