Who run the world? GIRLS

I think Spring has definitely sprung if my coat choice for today is anything to go by; 3/4 sleeves and thin fabric!!! And in white too, definitely a Spring colour. It turns out that trying to save money and not going out as a result does have its perks. Today I felt fresh enough to go shopping - on a sunday! But it's hardly surprising that a shopping trip was my motivation to get out of bed and actually get ready instead of watching Netflix all day. I'm trying to do as much wardrobe reincarnation as possible at the minute to make up for the fact that I haven't been buying new clothes (*cries*) and so today's item of choice was this striped mesh t-shirt. It was only £10 from new look about a year ago and yet I've never worn it (I have no idea why) so I thought today would be the perfect opportunity. Because it's literally see-through, I layered a white bralet (missguided) underneath it. Ideally, I would've worn a black one but I couldn't find mine so I had to improvise. You know how much I love my clashing prints and so I wore it with this gorgeous quilted pair of skorts in a black and white floral print (new look). Not content with just two clashing prints, I added a third in the form of my river island crocodile boots which I love because the heel is really high so they make me feel fabulous. I thought it might've been an unnecessary strain on my clashing print abilities to try to add my dogtooth or checked monochrome coat so I went with this white jacket instead that was from primark. I thought it'd be too thin and that I'd be cold but miracle of all miracles I actually wasn't! An even bigger miracle is that the shopping I was going to do wasn't actually for myself! I was actually going to buy presents for mothers day, my dads birthday and my foster brothers birthday - March is an expensive month for me! Okay so I might've slipped up a little and bought a few bits for myself from primark but they were cheap and cute and they were just asking for me to buy them; I did resist buying myself a new YSL lipstick though! (*pats self on the back*). What I did get were a few new additions to my ring collection (I got these 4 for only £3!) and these beautiful pointed white courts which I'm sure are going to be my must-have Spring shoes (if I can master walking in them that is). And they were only £10, how could I not buy them?! Oh and on a separate note entirely, happy international womens day everyone! Just incase you were wondering about the title, today is a day to celebrate powerful women and feminism and everything that comes with it. As I mentioned in my last post, I am a feminism but not to the extent that I believe that men and women should be equal (I'm not to the extent of burning my bra in protest either which is really not a good idea when your bras are from victorias secret and cost £50). I believe in equal rights and equal pay and everything but I don't think we should pretend men and women are equal, I think we should celebrate their differences. I don't agree with the 'this girl can' campaign for example (just to pre-warn, this section comes with a #TweetYourUnpopularOpinion warning and you should only read on if you have an open mind). The campaign suggests that girls don't play sports or get hot and sweaty because they're hiding who they really are because they're afraid society will judge them for being unladylike, and so they should go out and play sports and not care what people think. The reality is that a lot of girls just don't do those things because they don't enjoy them (like me for example) and I think that stereotypes exist because they're true for the majority of the people they're describing. Just because I enjoy shopping and baking and wearing high heels and love fairytales and the colour pink, it doesn't make me any less of an independent, empowered woman. I also don't agree with the "girl code" that suggests that you can't be a feminist unless you empower all women and don't slag eachother off. Just because I bitch about Kim Kardashian's new hair and so called "natural" bum it doesn't make me any less of a feminist, it just means I don't like her. All men and all women are entitled to their own opinion on anyone and anything and have the right to express it. I do believe though in female independence and education and empowerment. Emma Watson is a definite role model of mine because she's gone the exact opposite way of most child stars; she's become a successful and respectable young woman and hasn't gone off the rails or ended up in rehab like most of them do. And when gossip circled about her dating Prince Harry, she did make a very good point in saying 'marrying a prince is not a prerequisite for being a princess'. After all I should know, I'm living proof (*insert princess emoji here*).
