New month makeover
A new month, a new season and therefore a new hair colour! For anyone feeling like being picky, yes I know that technically Spring doesn't start until the end of March but if you're going purely on months then Spring is march-april-may. I was optimistic that Spring had come right on cue when I opened my curtains to sunshine this morning but in typical British fashion, it was pouring with rain by the afternoon. Speaking of fashion, I decided it was time to update mine and seeing as I can't do it by updating my wardrobe (saving for a holiday is so boring), I went with my hair instead. I was bored of the ombré anyway. I've included a before photo for anyone who's a first time reader or for anyone with short term memory loss. I figured that I've had light hair for long enough and I wanted to go dark again. I didn't want just a base colour like I went with back in June though because I think it can look quite flat. When colour-picking, I was actually inspired by something my boss Hannah said last week; she said to choose a colour based on my fashion inspirations like my favourite blogger for example. Well I didn't go with a blogger, I went with my ultimate style icon; who can guess who it is?! Who other than Blair Waldorf. She has kind of chestnut coloured hair and so I went with a colour with a very tiny red tinge to it. Which is really hard to find without going to the hairdressers (again, saving for a holiday and can't afford to) because all the shades are either brown or bright red. I eventually picked this shade (with my mums help), frosted chocolate, which I just love the name of! Although doing it myself didn't work out very cheap in the end because I now have to buy 3 boxes to cover all my hair! I'm actually really happy with the colour though which is rare for me because it normally takes me a few days to get used to it, and all credit goes to my lovely mummy for doing it for me (not only is she my cleaner, my best friend, my bank manager and my part-time therapist, she is also my occasional hairdresser).
Well if today is anything to go by, I think I'm going to enjoy March - I drank loads of wine, ate way too much food and wore open-toed shoes without freezing to death! It felt so nice to wear something remotely summery. I don't know how I owned these trousers for so long without wearing them; I actually love them so much. They were from missguided and are a really gorgeous, slightly shiny fabric and the perfect fit. I kept the rest of the outfit monochrome with this high neck striped top (new look) which is the perfect length for wearing with these trousers because it doesn't need to be tucked in or anything. I added these caged sandals (new look) which I am so glad I can start wearing again because they're my comfiest and probably one of my favourites. You know how I love my clashing prints, so I added my dog tooth coat (missguided) and then finished the outfit with my Michael Kors watch and a few gold rings. What I wore today is probably my favourite makeup look at the minute too (ignore my baby hairs and moon face in the photo); I used my Lorac palettes to create it. I used Champagne over my lid and Pewter through my crease (both from the Lorac 1) and then added a mixture of Chrome and Charcoal along my lower lashline (both Lorac 2). I finished with winged liner and false lashes, although I had a lash disaster when one of them came unstuck while I was out at dinner and I had no eyelash glue with me! Boys, you won't understand the heartbreak. The amazing food made up for it though - Soleville Steakhouse is a favourite of mine although their portions are ridiculously big and therefore I will be living off nothing but lettuce and water for the next week. But today in the battle of man vs food; man (or woman) won!
