Sunday funday
If you look up the official definition of 'sunday' in the dictionary, it is described as a day to sleep in late, eat way too much food and realise you have loads of unfinished work to do, which you reason with yourself that you'll have plenty of time to do from 9pm onwards and then decide that you were wrong about half an hour in. I would include that it is also a MUST to do all of these things while nursing a hangover but I actually didn't have one this morning! Not because I've suddenly developed really good self-healing skills but because I didn't go out at all last night because I'm trying to spend zero money on the run up to Amsterdam (which is 3 weeks away). Needless to say I didn't have a very exciting or bloggable Saturday night (I spent it playing around on dubsmash which is my newest favourite app; of course I did all the typical girly sound clips like mean girls, gossip girl and my-milkshake-brings-all-the-boys-to-the-yard), but I did make up for my teetotal Saturday night with a bottle of wine today (I always make the most of family meals that I don't have to pay for). And I couldn't not show you this cute little dessert that my mum had - it's a layered chocolate mousse in a tiny teacup and they bring it with crumbled shortbread on the spoon! I just thought it was adorable. Anyway, for said meal I wore an outfit that looks very Blair-Waldorf-at-constance inspired. I got this blouse from new look absolutely ages ago but it's one of those timeless pieces that you'll always find a need for in your wardrobe. I love the frilly collar and detailing and the black neck tie adds a very sophisticated edge. The fabric is very sheer though so I layered a white bralet under neath it (missguided). I also welcomed the chance to showcase another of my new missguided pieces, that I deliberately didn't include in the haul blogpost. The second I saw it online, I fell in love and knew I had to have it. The dark camel colour is gorgeous and great for the transitioning of the seasons and I love that it's a 3-colour-stripe instead of just two (I don't really know why that makes a difference). It was only £18 too so how could I not buy it?! I added my black chunky shoes (new look £24.99) and Marc Jacobs watch and then finished with this gorgeous primark coat (£25) which I haven't worn in while because it's not all that thick and I've needed the warmth. I made an exception today though because I thought it went so perfectly. The stone colour was the perfect neutral to not clash with the camel of the skirt and the feminine shape fit in with my sophisticated-new-yorker vibe that I was channelling.
My favourite part of todays look was my make up (cue shameless amount of selfies). I used a mixture of a few different palettes; I started with Champagne from the Lorac 1 as my base over my lid and added Pewter from the same palette through the crease and round the outer corners. I then used Chrome from my Lorac 2 and applied it along the lower lashline and round my tear duct and then finished with Hustle from my Naked palette along the outer part of my lower lashline. I blended the whole lot together and then added mascara and false lashes. I wasn't 100% about the look though so I added winged eyeliner and then I really loved it. I finished with my newest favourite lipstick, Twig by MAC which is a gorgeous dark dusky pink.
