Monday blues
So despite my outfit planning and very helpful inspiration, I actually spent my valentines weekend in bed (and not in the good way) - I've been so ill and the mix of ill and hungover on Friday was not a pleasant one! Despite wanting to die though, I did make it out on Sunday to a family friends birthday party (which was sweet because our families have been friends literally since we were babies) and seeing as I have no Friday or Saturday outfits to show you, I thought I'd share this one with you. Although it might look like I built my outfit round my blue accessories, I actually built it around these trousers. I got them from missguided ages ago but I bought them as we started to go into autumn so I hadn't got around to wearing them yet and I thought it was high time that I did. Nude or camel trousers can be quite tricky because if you're not careful then you can end up looking naked (not what you want, or atleast I hope you don't); these are perfect though because they're fitted without being skin tight and I love the high waisted style. Then I decided on the shoes (new look £19.99) because the pump style works well with the bottom of the trousers and so then I added the baby blue clutch bag (primark) and cropped faux fur coat (very.co.uk) to match. As hard as it may be to believe, the top was actually the hardest part to decide on. I couldn't wear anything long because when worn loose it made the trousers look unfitted and when worn tucked in it ruined the high waisted style. I couldn't wear a statement colour because I already had icy blue as my colour of choice and I couldn't wear white because along with the camel it looked washed out. So after all that, I decided black was my only option and went with this new look 3/4 sleeve top which has these cute cut-out sections that I think really add to it. I finished my look with Spirit lipstick by MAC and my Michael Kors watch.
Although my title may suggest that I wore blue on Monday, I actually wore the blue yesterday and I went with a warmer shade today. Through the year-and-a-bit that I've been keeping this blog, I've been through multiple colour phases; lilac, then pale yellow, then icy blue, then burgundy/berry and now apparently I'm onto this burnt tan colour. I love these trousers (H&M) because they're a crepe fabric with a runner-style waistband so they look smart but they're super comfy. The slightly cropped length also means they look great with ankle boots - which is exactly what I wore them with (these were from new look for £24.99). I recently rediscovered this blouse in the back of my wardrobe and I've fallen in love all over again (possibly in the spirit of valentines day) so I decided to wear it today with a white cami layered underneath. I may have been through multiple colour love affairs, but my relationship with dogtooth print is the forever kind. So I finished my outfit with my dogtooth coat (missguided £49.99) and my Marc Jacobs watch.
