From happy birthday to hangover

I wonder if everyone else has spent today as hungover as I have? My reason being that last night I went out for 2 of my friends birthdays, which was so nice especially after not going out at all last weekend. Dressing for a night out in winter is one of life's impossible tasks. If you wear skimpy clothes then you're too cold as you walk through town and queue up outside and if you cover up then you're too hot once you're inside the bars and clubs. So I had to try and find an inbetween; I went with this fishnet top because of the long sleeves and the bralet underneath and although the fabric is very open it still helps to keep you a bit warmer. It was from missguided as part of the Nicole Scherzinger collection and was £20 which I think is really good because with it being black it will go with everything. I paired it with this pleated olive green skater skirt because it's high waisted and the top is really short so they worked well together; it was also from missguided for £20. I finished by pairing my black boots to my black top (although I wear them every time I go out regardless of the rest of the outfit) and then added gold watch, gold rings and black stud earrings (assorted from new look and primark). I also really loved last nights makeup because it's quite a lot lighter than my normal night-out look. Normally I'm all about dark dark dark with the eyes but instead I used Virgin from my Naked palette all over my lid and then added Jade from my Lorac 2 through my crease and round the outer corners (it kindof matched the colour of my skirt which is why I chose it). I added Snow in my tear ducts as a highlight and Mocha along my lower lashline, both from my Lorac 2 palette and then finished with winged liner and false lashes. I struggled on deciding what lip colour to go with because I think a bright red would've looked really nice with the khaki green but I never wear red lipstick for a night out because I think when you're drinking all night it's hard to keep it looking good so I went with one of my favourite nudes instead - Taupe by MAC which is a really nice warm shade.

I woke up today feeling rough with the worst alcohol shakes ever (which makes putting on mascara a real challenge) but I didn't have the option to stay in bed watching Netflix all day because we were going out to celebrate my not-so-little brothers 17th birthday at Tropeiro which is one of my favourite restaurants. I wore this burnt orange shirt-dress (missguided) which is a really nice loose fit, which is ideal when you're going for a big meal out because you don't want anything uncomfortable or with a tight waist band. I decided to leave the black tights at home and instead put on my thigh high boots. I like the little gap of skin between the dress and boots, and the shirt doesn't button all the way to the bottom so I ended up with a cheeky thigh split as I walked ('cheeky' is acceptable when used in this context, it's not acceptable however when used to refer to a pint, a nap or a nando's). I added my dogtooth coat (missguided) and Marc Jacobs watch and finished with minimalist I'm-too-hungover-to-give-a-damn makeup. Also, I couldn't let the occasion go by without baking a cake (or course) - this one is half white chocolate cake, half dark chocolate with a caramel icing inbetween and then covered in dark chocolate ganache. By the way, ganache is the coolest thing to work with - this was such a fun cake to bake, even if the message did go a bit messy. Writing neatly in icing is much harder than you'd think.
