Katie's birthday knight out
Those of you who know me and my friends personally will think the title is fabulous, those of you who don't then let me explain; it's to let you know that we went out for Katie Knight's birthday, also known as big Katie who is in no way big but the other Katie is little so it's an easy way to differentiate. Having two best friends with the same name can be very difficult! I had such a great weekend though (which explains the fact I haven't blogged since Friday) - a busy one too. After going out on Thursday night for another friend's birthday, I spent a slightly hungover Friday doing what I do best; baking a cake! I made a pink raspberry sponge with chocolate fudge frosting and then covered the whole thing in edible pink glitter (while covering most of my kitchen in the process). I always think I'd make a bad housewife because I'm useless at hoovering and ironing and cleaning in general but maybe the cake baking skills make up for it? Then on Friday evening we had a girls night out trip to Frankie and bennys where we did cake, cocktails and presents (and the waiter wanted to get in our group photo). I got Katie the Naked 2 palette by urban decay and I think there are 2 rules to present buying; first of all it should be something they'd like and second of all it should be something you don't want to give away. Definitely the case here! I 100% need the Naked 2 in my makeup collection (if anyone wants to buy me a Christmas present then there's a really subtle suggestion).
In terms of outfits and makeup, I went with dressy-casual for the Friday night in my topshop black fur skirt, black tights and black new look chunky heels then added some sparkle with this new missguided metallic racer crop which I just love the colours of. I added my grey fur coat (new look £64.99) for the journey there and back and finished with baby blue clutch bag (primark) and silver jewellery. I wore fake eyelashes so I went with quite natural eyeshadow (for me anyway) - the Naked and Creep tones from my Naked palette. On Saturday night, we went into town so I went a bit dressier. I just love this missguided crossover playsuit in snake print and I love the neckline. The huge cut-out caused a bra problem though because I thought I'd be fine with my stick-on bra but the clasp showed in the middle so I had to wear it undone in the middle - I may aswell not have bothered with one but never mind! It was also inconvenient going to the toilet because the playsuit has a zip all the way up to the top at the back so I had to get someone to zip and unzip me each time. It's not the most practical of clothing pieces clearly but it's pretty and that's what matters! Plus it was only £24.99 so you can't really complain. I matched my makeup to my playsuit by wearing dark purple eyeshadow as my base with gold inner corners and black outer corners and then I finished with lashes again.
I always manage to embarrass myself on nights out, which when you consider the mix of alcohol and natural clumsiness is not that surprising. This weekends embarrassment highlight was falling over right outside a bar we were about to go into and as you can see I ended up looking like I'd given myself a very dark and very questionable fake tan. As well as everyone whose been featured in posts before (such as my Magaluf post), Billy and Ben (who we actually bumped into in Magaluf) were also out and I found it way too funny that two best friends shared names with flower pot men (I found it funnier than I normally would but that's probably got something to do with the bottle of wine I'd already had when I noticed it). As for the third guy in from the left in the big group photo, I have no idea who that is - clearly there's something about our group that makes people we don't know want to get in our photos. I'm glad Katie had an amazing birthday weekend and although I don't remember most of Saturday night, I'm pretty sure I did too.
