Weekend at sheffield
So as I'm sure a lot of you have, I've been missing my bestie Laura since she left for uni about 2 months ago (I mean I'm sure you've been missing your own friends not Laura specifically), so I decided I was well overdue a trip up to Sheffield to see her! So I caught the train up on Thursday night (which was actually really cheap and fast) and we had a big catch up and cooked dinner - student style of corse, which involves pasta, sauce from Aldi and chucking it all in a pan and hoping for the best (it was really nice and I'm pretty sure we didn't get food poisoning which is all you can really ask for!). Then we continued the student lifestyle by buying chocolate and cheap wine for pre-drinks which we drank out of wine glasses that were collecting dust in the box they came in with the stickers still on, before getting ready to go out. I wore these animal print shorts which were from Topshop and paired them with a white bralet and white mesh tee (both missguided) which I tucked in. I finished with black bag, black boots and gold accessories. Sheffield actually has a really good night life and everything is ridiculously cheap! I couldn't believe it when my double vodka and mixer was only £2.30! In Nottingham they're like £5.50 in a load of places! Everything in Sheffield is really close together too so everything's in walking distance - it was soooo weird not ending the night by catching a taxi! Packing my bag was the weirdest thing because not only did I not need taxi money, I also didn't need my bus card or my house keys! It was a really good night out though, although sleeping top-and-tail in a single bed with your equally tall and even-drunker-than-you best friend was not one of my weekend highlights!
It was really weird waking up and having my days outfit pre-decided because my only option was the only outfit I brought with me - not the kindof lifestyle that suits me I like to have options! Anyway I wore my blue leather skirt (river island) and white and blue patterned crop (new look) and then finished with my camel coat from primark. I also wore black tights and black boots because it was way too cold to go bare-legged - Sheffield is one of the windiest cities I've ever been to apart from San Francisco! I didn't have to catch my train until twenty to 5 on Friday so we went out to try one of Sheffield's restaurants, seeing as we've tried most of the ones in Nottingham (I've mentioned before that Laura is my lunch partner so I've really missed eating out while she's been gone!). We went to Smoke BBQ because I'd seen photos on instagram and thought it looked amazing and I was right! The décor was really rustic and cute and the food was amazing (also the perfect hangover cure btw)! Although the portion sizes were ridiculous and I'm still pretty full from that meal now! I also loved that the drinks came in jam jars! Then we had a bit of a wander round the city and Laura showed me where she goes to uni etc. and we looked in a couple of shops before it was time for me to catch the train home again. I actually didn't buy anything despite the fact I had a 20% off in H&M voucher (shock horror) but that was mainly down to the fact that I already had so many heavy bags to carry that if I bought anything else my arms would've probably dropped off mid train journey!
