Ice queen wishlist
My blogpost inspiration comes from all kind of weird and wonderful places; this particular one is inspired by Queen Elsa. My favourite Disney princesses are Belle (beauty and the beast) and Mulan (from Mulan funnily enough) which not only proves I'm a true 90s child (because the two films were released in 1991 and 1998) but also must say something about my lack of belief in love at first sight because those two Disney movies didn't quite follow the Cinderella, sleeping beauty, snow white pattern of falling in love after just one song. They also contain princesses who end up rescuing their princes, rather than the other way around for a change. And who said Disney princess movies didn't contain feminist messages? Even though I'm a little old to be a true Elsa fan (I was a die hard Disney princess fangirl who owned every fancy dress outfit ever made), I can't fault her sense of style. Pale blue is BIG this season so I thought I'd put together a little wishlist of some of my favourites. As always, the descriptions are left-to-right, top-to-bottom.
1. Pale blue pocket front duster coat £34.99 from New look
I already have my staple pale blue coat for the season - a gorgeous collarless one from boohoo - but for those of you who haven't invested yet then get your hands on this one! The colour is gorgeous and its 35% wool (a percentage that one of my best friends Laura is now obsessed with checking while coat shopping) so it'll keep you warm on those frosty nights. The price is really good too! I think any coat under £50 is really good value and this one's a really nice style too.
2. Light blue satin box pleat midi skirt £60 from River Island
Midi skirts are my latest obsession! (which probably means I'll own about 50 of them by this time next month) I just think they're such a chic way to travel from Summer to Autumn and they're really feminine and classy. This pleated style is really flattering and satin is such a lush fabric. Okay so it is really expensive - but the quality does show. I'll let you into one of my most sacred fashion secrets ever; if you're wanting a similar style but can't stretch to £60 then use the website shopstyle.com. Just search something like 'blue midi skirt' and ones from loads of different websites will all come up with links to take you straight to the 'add to basket' page. Make sure to filter the results by 'price: low - high' though because designers such as Dolce & Gabbana are on there and if you thought £60 was too expensive then you ain't seen nothing yet!
3. Light blue peep toe platform sandals £55 from River Island
My life motto is 'keep your heels, head and standards high' - well these shoes certainly tick one out of three boxes! The platforms are gorgeous and so is the colour! If you want a more versatile pair though, they also sell them in white.
4. Light blue bandage bandeau prom dress £50 from River Island
I've been lusting after this for so long now I'm pretty sure I'm just going to have to buy it on payday. The colour is a gorgeous kindof dusky pale blue and the sweetheart-style neckline created by the bandage crossover is always really flattering. It's a really nice length and the pleats keep it fun and girly. All you need now is a prom date (and to wait 9 months seeing as prom is in the summer).
5. Wrap front bralet £22 from Topshop
Bralets were big this summer - I should know I bought 11 of them. But lucky for me, you don't have to hide them away for a year with the bikini's and sandals. Wear them instead with a midi skirt and fur cropped jacket, and add heeled boots with little frilly socks and some statement jewellery.
6. Light blue leather-look pencil skirt £30 from River Island
I have 2 of the leather-look mini skirts from river island and another 2 on my shopping list because I just love the fit and style of them and I expect nothing less from this slightly longer one. It'll add a little warmth through the autumn without the need for tights and this length is really flattering. Just make sure to wear heels so you don't end up dwarfing yourself with the extra fabric.
What is a queen without her accessories? Okay so maybe you don't have your own personal crown jewels but statement costume jewellery has a similar effect and with some fancy lingerie you'll still feel a million dollars.
1. Satin bralet and mini knickers set (bra £22, knickers £8) from Topshop
2. Blue snakeskin contrast metal trim clutch bag £12.99 from New look
3. Mint green bead and gem flower necklace £7.99 from New look
4. Blue gemstone drop earrings £5.99 from New look
Now all that's left is to go about finding myself a fancy palace far far away. And maybe my own Prince Charming. Oh and some chic glass slippers.
