OOTD: Autumn is here

Today was rainy and wet and cold so it feels like Autumn is here (not that a British summer has weather that's any different), even though it's still technically August and I'll be hanging onto the hope of sunshine for the next 2 days before I officially give up hope. But the arrival of the new season offers the perfect excuse to break out the new season clothes. I have just been waiting to wear this outfit and I am so in love with it! Unfortunately the cold weather has made me ill so I've had to wait all week to actually wear it. The trousers are the perfect transitional piece and were only £19.99 from new look! The floral print against the black fabric makes them not-too-summery and the ankle grazer style is really smart and flattering. I decided on a white-and-nude colour scheme to fit in with these more-than-perfect shoes, also new look for £27.99. And the best part is that they're a high heel and they barely even hurt my feet! I matched the white part to my top by adding a white cami (Topshop, £16), and kindof-matched the nude part to my new favourite camel coat (only £23 from primark). I also couldn't help but add my accessory of the moment; my big floppy black hat! It was only £8 from primark and is THE accessory for AW14. Another of my favourite accessories is the humble ring; as long as there's lots and lots of them! These rings are all from new look and I added to my hand porn by wearing my Michael Kors watch and painting my nails in a cute baby pink to match the flowers on my trousers; I used Maybelline Color show (my fave) in 77 Nebline.

I'm about to share a sacred fashion secret with all of you so listen closely. Don't you hate a brand new pair of shoes with the un-grippiest sole possible? Especially on a rainy day like today, your chance of slipping over is dangerously high. So instead of risking it, I have a little tip. Use a cheese grater (yes my cheese grater is the tiniest and cutest one you've ever seen) to roughen up the soles a little so they're a bit grippier. And if you're wondering whether or not it works; I didn't slip over at all today!

If you're wondering why I've included a massively-rained-on photo of myself in a restaurant, it's purely to show that I do actually wear my hat to go out in. Some people (yes I mean you Jake) don't believe I actually wear it out so I had to prove it. I think I need to start doing something different with my life; all my OOTD blogposts include a meal out somewhere. But really, who can resist good food? I never bought into the concept of 'nothing tastes as good as skinny feels' when you can get amazing food like I had today from the Gourmet Burger Kitchen. It's not quite as inventive as Annie's (if you haven't been yet, seriously get yourself down there) but it was still amazing and well worth the food coma I had for the rest of the evening.
