A day to celebrate

The long wait finally ended yesterday - A level students across the country found out the results that would seal their fate. I got mine emailed to me at 7am and I was so happy to see I got BBC! I also loved that the acronym was the same as the TV company. Even though I already had my results, I still went with one of my best friends Laura to college to collect the printed version. I have to say it was a good feeling, walking out of college and knowing it would be for the last ever time. Seeing as I've never had any interest in going to university, as of now I am officially no longer a student. Seeing as Laura's results were good too and she got her place at Sheffield Hallam (her first choice) confirmed, we went out to celebrate. I went with a white ensemble; I wore my Zara skirt which was a birthday present and added my Schuh gladiator heels which were £45. Let's play a game - spot the difference between the top in this post and in the Clashing florals post a couple of months ago. The difference is it was a peplum last time you saw it! I have a bad habit of customising clothes when I get bored of them; I've turned midi dresses into mini dresses, mini dresses into tops and jeans into ripped jeans. This time I've turned a peplum into a crop using only a pair of scissors. I do sew my clothes sometimes when I customise but it didn't need it this time, because of the way a peplum is made. Just make sure you cut underneath the seam so that the stitching is still attached to the top, stopping it from fraying. Cut as close to the seam as possible for a neat finish and you can inject new life into the clothes in your wardrobe. I loved the splash of blue against an otherwise completely white outfit (I added my white/cream accessorize bag too) and I added a contrasting pink coat (missguided £34.99) because the weather was having mood swings and I didn't want to risk getting rained on an in all-white outfit. I finished the look with my feather pendant earrings and Michael Kors watch, aswell as my No7 lipstick in Classic rose which is pretty much my favourite.

After the stress of exams and coursework and general college life, we had earned the right to spend the day celebrating in the best possible way; cocktails, good food, and of corse a bit a classic retail therapy. In my experience, the high street shops rotate on which ones are good and which are a let-down. Last winter I couldn't get enough of new look but then over summer it went a bit tacky for my taste. Now we're going back into Autumn they're picking up again (while topshop's going through a bad patch). So to celebrate their pick-up, I picked myself up some beautiful new shoes. As I said in my last blogpost, I needed the perfect pair of nude shoes (a pair that actually fit) so I got this pair of court shoes for only £19.99! Then I saw them in blue too and in typical jenni-fashion I just had to get them both and make the most of my student card while it's still valid. That's one thing I will miss about college, although it doesn't run out until October so ill just have to shop until I drop in the next month and a half. Then we went over to revolution to toast our success with some fancy cocktails. Laura started with an Absolut Passion while I got a Sweetshop, then she got a Jammy Bastard and I got a Pornstar Martini which comes with a shot of prosecco on the side! Then we were joined by Laura's friend Emily and we got another round of cocktails; she got a Jammy Bastard, Laura got a Cranberry Fizz and I got a Strawberry Woo Woo. Then what else to do after good drinks than go for some good food. Prezzo is one of my favourite restaurants so it was a fitting place to celebrate. Me and Laura eat out every week so it's definitely going to feel strange when she goes off to uni and I no longer have my ladies-who-lunch partner. On the plus side though, it might make me lose weight? A girl can dream.

And just like that, I took it from day to night. I wore this gorgeous two-piece from river island, £12 for the top and £16 for the skirt. Even though it's a summery style, the print is very autumny (is that a word?) so it's a great transitional outfit. I love the racer cut of the top and the length of the skirt and I styled it with black boots and black shoulder bag (both new look). I added a gold watch and lots of rings, made my smokey eye darker and heavier and added false lashes. I also added Maybelline lipstick in 540 Hollywood red but I added that after I took the photos. Then after pre-drinks with my friends, we went out to Rock city to celebrate with every student (and loads of non-students) across Nottingham, although I'm sure lots of them were drowning their sorrows more than anything else. Because it was such a huge night, we had to get there before 10 to make sure we got in and we ended up getting in at about quarter past. It's definitely the earliest I've ever been in there and the bars were actually clean and dry enough to lean on (anyone who's been there will know how shocking that is). It was an amazing night and the best way to end my two years of college. I haven't made it out of my bed today though and am currently blogging this in my pyjamas (while also wearing my new blue heels, an interesting combination I will admit but they're too pretty to take off). I haven't forgotten about my final Stateside post don't worry, but I had to blog about results day while it was still relevant. You'll get to read all about Hawaii and the amazing things I did there in tomorrow's post.
