OOTD: bringing dogtooth back
Well you didn't think I'd just leave without saying goodbye did you? I can't believe how quickly today has come around! It feels like 5 minutes since my 'here come the girls' blogpost in January/February after booking my first ever girls holiday and already it's the day we fly out to Magaluf! It's also an important day as I went along with my little brother for his school leavers assembly - I can't believe it's been two whole years since my own. I'm still proud that I won the award for 'best dressed female'. It was nice seeing all my old teachers again although it did make me come over all nostalgic (I bet you can't tell). It was hard to dress for the occasion though. It was early-morning so it was warm but not hot enough for shorts/skirt and besides, most of summer clothes are packed anyway. I decided it was time to reignite my winter flame and fall in love all over again with dogtooth. It's not really the season for monochrome dogtooth - that was winter's queen - so I went for something a bit different. I love the cut of these missguided crop tops even if the elastic straps are mildly uncomfortable and the lilac and white dogtooth is a fresh take on a winter trend (although I did buy the top quite a while ago for only £9.99!!). Not only are most of my shorts, skirts and crop tops packed, but also my favourite strapless bra so I had to make do with the one I don't like anymore. I added my slouchy Topshop jeans (£30ish), sticking to pale blue denim for a fresh summery feel without flashing the flesh at a school event. I added my fave white La Moda sandals (£24) to match the white in the print of the top and then finished it off with my Michael Kors watch, not only because I love it but also because it's basically the only jewellery I've not packed for holiday. Needless to say my options for today were limited.
Like most other things in my bedroom (and in my life), my suitcase is pink. It does mean it's really easy spot when you go to collect it after getting off the plane. Although I always have really bad luck, it's either the first one off the plane and I have to run round after it before it disappears back through the curtains, or I'm still stood waiting for it to come round when everyone's on their way back to the airport to come home again. There's never any inbetween. I'm actually really good when it comes to packing - we had a 22kg baggage allowance plus 10kg in our hand luggage and my case only weighs 18kg! I've got all the essentials like toiletry bags, tanning oil, towels, 6 bikinis (maybe a bit extravagant but better to have too many than not enough), pyjamas, makeup and underwear, and then I always choose my clothes carefully. My dad is the worst packer in the world because he just takes anything that he likes and may want to wear regardless of how heavy it is or whether or not it actually goes with anything. I put outfits together, day and night and take one or two extras that match quite a few things to give myself options and then roll most of it in some weird game of tetris so there's no gaps and then I lay the last few pieces on top. I also think a luggage strap and tag are essential because they just help to keep your case safer and make it easier to spot (mine's not hard anyway but for those with a black case for example). And that's it from me for a week! I'll try to take plenty of photos to blog when I get home; I can't say I'll miss you though because I'll be sunning it up on a beach with a cocktail in hand. Needless to say I won't miss the English rain while I'm away.
