OOTD: blooming lovely
Forget Fridays - in Jenni-verse Tuesday night is ladies night. Atleast once a week, me and one of my best friends Laura go out for a meal which usually turns into shopping (as everything should). We normally go for lunch after college or before one of us has work but this week we actually went out in the evening for once. So to mark the occasion, I went with florals (for summer, I know). What with all my nice clothes (and several brand-new ones) having been packed for my 3 weeks in America, I'm fairly limited with my outfit choices. I went with this black missguided skirt which was only £12.99 because I think the length is perfect for avoiding looking too over-dressed. The mesh panel is a really nice detail although you have to be really careful with it riding up because you haven't got to worry about the hem of the skirt like normal, you have to worry about 2 inches above that. I went with my stereotypical monochrome and floral mix by adding white shoes. The story behind these is that I wanted some robust shoes for walking around the national parks of America so I initially bought some beautiful Timberlands but they were way too heavy and practically took up my entire 23kg baggage allowance all by themselves. They were so pretty I considered leaving all my clothes at home and walking round the Grand canyon in the timberlands alone but at £160, I couldn't really afford to not swap them. So I went back to Schuh and swapped them for these cleated sole gladiators, similar to the ones Topshop have been selling for a while. At £45 (plus student discount), they were considerably cheaper and are ridiculously comfy so I think they'll serve me well on holiday. I'm halfway between a size 6 and 7 and I went with a 7 in these and they fit perfectly so I'd suggest sizing up. I refuse to admit defeat on the timberlands though; I'm already planning to re-buy them in autumn. I'm determined they will be mine. To mix in the florals, I wore this gorgeous racer-style crop from Miss Selfridge which was only £12 (although I did have to pay next day delivery to make sure I'd get it in time for my holiday). I love the blue and white colours and the floaty bloom print is really nice and feminine. All my jewellery is re-packed so I finished off the look with my Michael Kors watch and my No7 lipstick in Classic rose.
Me and Laura try to go to loads of different restaurants rather than going to the same one over and over and tonight we went to Tropeiro which is fast becoming a favourite of mine. It's a Brazilian restaurant (apt, what with the world cup) and you pay a set price for unlimited salad bar and side dishes then waiters come round with mixed meats fresh off the grill to serve in front of you. It's really nice and you can have as much as you want without anything ever going cold. Seeing as it's the last time I'll see her before jetting off for 3 weeks, we couldn't help but celebrate with a cocktail; She got a Lychee Caipirinha (hardest word ever to pronounce) and I got a strawberry daiquiri (one of my faves). Speaking of jetting off, I have a surprise for you all. Going to Magaluf for a week and not blogging wasn't too bad, but to go away for 3 weeks and do loads of exciting things without showing any of you would be too hard. Plus, if I tried to write a 3-week summery blogpost when I got back, I think it would take me a solid 3 weeks to write it. So while I'm over there I'm going to try and blog a couple of times to fill you in on what I'm getting up to; so look out for a series of blogposts titled 'Jenni goes stateside'. And to all my American readers you should look out for me in the flesh; I'll be the tourist in awe of everything taking way too many photos.
