Transformation thursday: Blonde to brunette
Okay so seeing as I've now finished college and turn 18 tomorrow (omg I'm so excited), I thought it was fitting to change my hair. I'm a natural brunette but I've pretty much been every shade there is from blue-black to blonde to medium brown to bright red, and I felt like it was about time to go back brunette. I never go to the hairdressers because it's ridiculously expensive so I always get my mum to do it.
I think the hair dye foams are really good and they're really fun for anyone who hasn't tried them. I chose from the John Frieda range; 5N medium natural brown, thinking it would just be a medium brown (as the name suggests) and I could dye it when I got home from work last night and then everything would be peachy. But like most things, it was not that simple! After dying it last night, it turned out pretty much black and waaaay darker than what I wanted and I just hated it so much that I had to dye it again today (probably not the best way to keep my hair in good condition). So I had a mad rush to boots this morning, armed with my mums credit card (which seems to be my weapon of choice more often than not) to get a new colour, along with colour stripper because dye doesn't go over dye very well.
I used Colour B4 extra, to strip last night's dye out of my hair which sent my hair a very attractive shade of orange and took up a big chunk of my day (it also smells disgusting so I'd advise everyone to think carefully about the colour they want to avoid repeating my disaster). Then once I'd washed that out and dried my hair, I had a ground-hog-day-moment from dying my hair last night as I did the whole thing again. It did turn out much lighter and warmer than last night but I'm still not keen. I already miss my light hair and I'm starting to wonder if dying my hair just before my birthday was really that great of an idea. I'd be quite happy to put money on the fact that I'll of dyed my hair lighter again within the month.
