Presents from Laura
So despite the fact my birthday was well over two weeks ago, I'm still getting presents! If you're still in denial about me being a princess then that should be proof enough for you. This week I got three new bottom halves, all courtesy of Laura. Not the same Laura, I have two really close friends named Laura, which makes messaging one of them very confusing. You would think that all these new clothes would be great but really, all that's happening is the daunting task of packing for my week in Magaluf is getting harder and harder. How will I possibly decide what to take and what to leave behind?!
It's been a long time coming but I've finally jumped on the skort trend bandwagon! Technically I did jump on it last week when I bought the lemon skorts from Topshop that were at the top of my wishlist (featured in 'print of the moment: easy peasy lemon squeezy'), but when they arrived the fabric was so thick that it made my figure look weird so I had to return them (both a crime and a tragedy I know). However, on the same shopping trip, I nipped into river island to pick up some bikinis that I'd ordered online (my current bikini count is up to about 13) and as always, I figured it wouldn't hurt to look around. And I found these amazing monochrome and baby blue skorts for £30! I have many great love affairs (all with beautiful clothes) and this was yet another case of love at first sight. The asymmetric hemline and black edging are really flattering and the fabric is like a jacquard texture which is a nice detail. So armed with my river island gift card from one of the Laura's, the skorts were mine! I styled them with my baby blue ribbed crop from Topshop (£8) and my black mule shoes from my1stwish.co.uk (£23.99 - although missguided now sell them aswell for roughly the same). To stay in line with the floral print of my skorts, I finished it off with my beautiful floral Pandora ring, which was also a birthday present (sorry you can't exactly see it in the photos), and then added blue nails (Maybelline color show 651 Cool blue). In case you were wondering, my mum walked through the back of one of my photos, it's not a ghost or anything.
On the same trip to river island, I couldn't believe my luck when I found this gorgeous skirt too (and for only £18)! It's a scuba fabric (previously referred to as bodycon fabric) so it's really comfy and flattering, and the purple feather print is lush. It's a great length and I love the white detail because it means it goes perfectly with white shoes etc. To prove it, I added my white La Moda sandals (£24) and my white missguided bralet (£9.99). I used the gift card for both the pieces so even though technically it could only buy one or part of the other, I'm going to say it paid £10 towards each piece so they're both technically birthday presents. And that my friends, is what my family often refer to as 'jenni logic'. Like all outfits, this one was completed perfectly by my beautiful Michael Kors watch.
These missguided shorts are a dream - and made even better by the fact I didn't have to pay for them! They were a birthday present from the other Laura and I actually love them so much. I'm so lucky I haven't had a single present this year that I haven't liked. I love the high waisted style and the part-scalloped hemline, and the bright fuchsia colour will be perfect on holiday. I have no idea how much they were so you'll have to look if you want a pair for yourself. I've said it before and I'll say it again; pink and green is a perfect combination. Although I'm normally referring to pastel colours, the same is still true for vibrant colours. So I added this green and white bralet (also missguided, see 'Tropicool' blogpost for details). As if the bright colours didn't scream 'summer' enough, I thought the tropical print would put the nail in the coffin for anyone who was unsure. I matched my shoes to my top, and added my white new look cleated sole heels (£39.99). I finished it off with my gold watch and hoop earrings (both new look). Now for the impossible task of deciding which clothes get a trip across the ocean, and which ones stay snug-as-a-bug-in-a-rug in my wardrobe at home.
