OOTD: Pink to make the boys wink
It's a rare occasion when I'm not at work or college and the weathers nice, so I made the most of today by finally giving this beautiful primark co-ord a day out. With the shorts only being £12 and the jacket just £19, it meant it was just over £30 for the set which is amazing value and it's just so cute and girly. When I've styled it before, I've added white so I decided to switch things up a bit today and match with black. So I went with a very subtle print-on-print by adding this floral velvet black cami, which was £22 from Topshop, and clashed very slightly with the gingham print of the two-piece (but in a good way). I've also been dying to wear these Public desire shoes out (£23.99 from my1stwish.co.uk) so my decision about the black was a good one. These shoes are another rare comfy pair of shoes (which I do not own a lot of) and the mule style is one that everyone's wearing right now, so they're definitely a good staple investment piece. It's my birthday on Friday so being the princess that I am, I'm stretching my celebrations out over a whole week (well you do only turn 18 once), and so I kicked things off today with a family day; we went and saw 22 jump street (omg you have to see it, it's the funniest film of the year by far) and then had lunch at prezzo, which is one of my favourite restaurants and they sell the most amazing cheesecake (one of the great loves of my life).
My mum usually has a, let's say 'interesting' fashion sense, opting to wear jeans under any dress that's knee length or shorter (something that me, my dad and my best friend have a long-running joke about). So I was very proud that she seemed to be taking some fashion inspo from my blog and went with prints, pastels and heels. She wore black brocade print trousers, a nude pink vest top under a white and grey butterfly print layered cami, a pink fine-knit cardigan and black Calvin Klein pointed-toe sling-back patent heels. She even managed to match her accessories; adding a dark grey lipsy watch and pastel chain statement necklace. I felt like a proud mum sending her child off in to the world on their first day of school (an irony as I'm the child and she's the mum), but instead of school it was prezzo and instead of just the world, it was the world of fashion and colour co-ordination.
