Diary of a princess: finally 18!
I hope you like my lifestyle blogposts because I have a feeling this is going to be a seriously long one. So the day finally arrived; my 18th birthday! And like most other events in my life it's been OTT and I've been spoilt rotten. As you already know, I kicked things off last Sunday with a family meal at prezzo and a cinema trip, then after I finished my last exam on Tuesday it was time to relax and start celebrating properly.
So me and my friend Laura (my friends have all been moaning that they never get named in my blog so I thought I'd make all their wishes come true) went for a meal at TGI Fridays where I inevitably had cookie dough cheesecake for dessert because it's my favourite. I found it so cute that Laura knew that already and she bought me cheesecake in the place of cupcakes or birthday cake because she knows it's my favourite. She also bought me some really sweet presents; a £20 river island gift card (which will come in handy because my river island wishlist is currently longer than the river Nile) and a nude flower-cut-out clutch bag which is exactly the kindof thing I would choose for myself. We have exactly the same taste which comes in handy when gift-buying. On my last day of having light hair (I miss it already), I went with monochrome with a splash of pink. I wore this river island skirt that you might recognise. Yes after writing my skirt wishlist blogpost, it was only a matter of time before I started working my way through the list. And seeing as this one was at the top, it was obvious I'd own it before I turned 18. I paired it with a white cami top (Topshop £16) and black mule-style shoes (my1stwish.co.uk £23.99). Even though it was boiling hot, I still added a coat for reasons which even I don't know. I went with pink (missguided £34.99) to match the skirt and added my black accessorize bag (£37). I also accessorised the hand again with lots of rings, a mix of normal and midi, and pink nail varnish in Maybelline forever strong pro in 135 Nude rose.
Then after a disgusting days work on Wednesday, I went out to celebrate my last day of being 17 on Thursday with my friends, Lauren, Katie and Sian (I have two friends called Katie which can be confusing). We went for a meal at chiquito's and got 25% off with a chiquito student card (seriously sign up for one it's so worth it). Then we went and had my last ever illegal drinks in wetherspoons; a pitcher of Blue Lagoon and a pitcher of Sex on the beach (sex on the beach was the nicer by far). I didn't feel like having my legs out again so I went with a bralet and jeans instead. Missguided bralets are amazing and my absolute favourites and this pastel patterned one is a dream. It was £14.99 so a tiny bit more expensive than my £9.99 ones, but it's slightly thicker and the elastic straps that cross over at the back are a really nice detail. The elastic straps do mean you can't wear a normal bra but stick-on bra's are the latest female essential. You might laugh or think they're a stupid idea, but try one and I promise you'll be a believer! You can get them for £5 from primark so it's not exactly wasting a lot of money even if you don't like it. I paired it with my slouchy pale denim skinny jeans (roughly £30 from Topshop), which I rolled up at the bottoms and then added my white La Moda sandals (£24). Because I was going out in the evening, I took a coat for when I was on the way home - I added my pink missguided one again (£34.99) because it matched the bralet perfectly. I finished it with my rose gold watch and hoop earrings.
Then it was finally my birthday!! I had a full-on day of celebrations too and I got spoilt like the princess that I am. I woke up stupidly early because when it comes to Christmas or my birthday, I'm like an excitable little kid. I got so many presents aswell! I got a new iPhone 5s, a brand new camera and a gorgeous rose gold Michael Kors watch which I am beyond in love with. I also got the gossip girl box set which I'm obsessed with, and loads of books, DVD's (I'm collecting all the Disney princess films), make-up, clothes and a few bits and pieces. Not to mention the fact I got over £1500 from my relatives and family friends! I am going to go on a serious shopping trip. Then my best friend Lauren (she insisted on being named) came round and gave me the most amazing presents! She got me a flower Pandora ring (which I love), a money pot to save for our holiday in Autumn, a photo album with a picture of us on the front and then new frilly socks (because she always steals all of mine), a cushion and some reading glasses (which were a joke because she always laughs at me for how bad my eyesight is).
For the day's antics I went with an all-pink ensemble. I wore another new river island edition; this dreamy pink faux-leather one was £25 and is the perfect length and fit (although it did make me ridiculously hot on a sunny day like today has been). I wore it with my Topshop pink and crochet top (£34) and my white La Moda faves (£24). I also added my gorgeous new Michael Kors watch and my white accessorize bag (£42). We went and had my first legal drinks at revolution in town - me, Lauren, my mum, dad and brother. Me and Lauren had Sweetshop cocktails and my mum went with a mojito (which is her favourite yet I can't stand it), and we got some lunch while we were there which was also amazing. Then after stopping at Tesco on the way home to buy £45 worth of alcohol for tomorrow's party, we went home to see the family.
Then we had the cutest champagne tea party ever known to man (or woman). We had pink macarons and iced gems and tiny sandwiches and chocolate mice, all piled high on tiered stands (which were only £1 from poundland so we might've gone a bit OTT with them). And my mum covered the table in diamantes and my dad opened the Bollinger; it was the most serious case of food porn I've ever seen! The white chocolate covered strawberries were my fave.
Then I got ready for my first ever legal night out! I went with this missguided playsuit because I felt like it actually went with my new dark hair. I love the blue tropical print and the open back with lace detailing is really cute. Plus I think playsuits are really flattering on most people so it's an added bonus, especially after a day of non-stop eating. I added my wear-with-everything new look boots (because they never hurt me on a night out) and black new look shoulder bag and then Katie and Lauren came round, ready to go out in Long Eaton. I can't say they've been too happy about having to sit and watch me write this for the last hour but hopefully they'll like finally having their names in the blog! That was also the longest blogpost I've ever done so apologies if you've died of boredom before reaching the end of it!
