White jean loving

Mirror mirror on the wall, what is the most essential summer wardrobe item of them all? The answer of course being a pair of white jeans! They are absolutely perfect for a sunny bank holiday weekend like this one, and are ideal for this stage just before it gets hot enough for shorts and skirts galore. I've featured my white jeans quite a few times in various blogposts, so I figured it was about time they got their own. White jeans are absolutely everywhere right now, but my personal favourites are these pair from Topshop (Joni for £36). Personally I don't think you can buy a better pair of jeans; they're comfy, always fit well and look good on anyone. The added bonus with white of course is that the colour won't fade in the wash (although you do have to be careful if you're anywhere near anything that could spill). Apart from having a BBQ (which I didn't have), the perfect way to spend a bank holiday is to shop until you drop (which I did a lot of). When I go shopping in Nottingham and I know I'll be trying lots of clothes on, I try to limit the layering and I don't tend to like wearing skirts or shorts with tights; it's best to choose clothes you can change in and out of with minimal effort. So for my day of shopping, I paired my white jeans with a white and blue floral print cami, which was roughly £22 from Topshop last summer. They won't still have it in stock now but floral cami's are sold everywhere, and eBay is always an option if you wanted this specific one. I went out quite early so it didn't really seem warm enough to go jacket-less, so I added my New look favourite (£39.99), which I thought contrasted with the blue nicely. At first I didn't think white shoes would go with white jeans but I really like these gladiators (£14 from Primark), so I completed the outfit with those and a black tote bag which was around £35 from accessorize.

And no outfit is truly complete without the perfect lipstick. I matched today's lips with my jacket and so went for a deep pink colour. This one is actually named '540 Hollywood red' and is from the Color sensational range by Maybelline, but it isn't red at all (as you can see from the photo). It is a really nice shade though and it stays on perfectly. The only things left to add were hoop earrings and a gold watch (both new look), and I was ready to go on the hunt for the perfect SS14 buys. You can read all about the treasures I picked up in my next blogpost, which will be coming on Monday. Until then, you'll just have to wonder.
