OOTD: Mixing monochrome

Seeing as I loved the whole clashing-floral-prints look, I wanted to try with some bolder prints. I have so much monochrome in my wardrobe that I wanted to make the most of it and decided that black and white tartan against black and white dogtooth would be a good clash. Both of these pieces have been featured before; the bralet is one of my many missguided £9.99 favourites and I've showed you the skirt before, way back when I didn't actually feature in my blog. It was £29 from the petite range at miss selfridge and I think pairing a bralet with a skater skirt is a great way to dress it down a bit without wearing jeans. Keeping with the black and white theme, I added black tights (primark £2) mostly because today is rainy and cold and I'm guessing I'd get a lot of dirty looks from old people if I left the house with bare legs (not to mention I'd be really cold). I also wore my every-day new look black boots because I've got a day of shopping and walking round town ahead of me so I needed some comfy shoes. They're also good for shopping because they slip on and off so easily, meaning it's less of a faff in the changing rooms when you need to take your shoes off (FYI, lace-ups are a no-go - you'll end up getting very frustrated). To soften the edgy-grungy look; I turned the monochrome outfit into a monopastel one by adding my favourite pastel pink coat (£34.99 from missguided). I also finished it off with my No7 pink lipstick in Classic rose, gold hoop earrings and gold watch (both new look), before I prepared to face the pouring rain all in the name of shopping. That, my friends, is called dedication.
