Diamonds are a girls best friend

But fake ones are a lot kinder to her bank account! Plus they often look just as good. Okay so who wouldn't want to be able to wander round the likes of Cartier and Harry Winston stores with a platinum Amex card like Blair Waldorf. But for those of us without trust funds (which is most of us), they invented the high street. And high street jewellery is so nice at the minute, I just had to invest in some new statement necklaces. I also still haven't got round to replacing my midi rings but that's next on my list.

If you've read my previous blogposts, you will know that pastel colours pretty much make up my entire wardrobe so when I found this necklace I just had to have it. It was only £6 from Primark and contains all my favourite pastel colours; pink, lilac, powder blue and mint green; meaning it will go with everything! The flowery design is also really cute and girly and it's just the right length to go with either high-neck boxy tops or low-cut cami tops. It's also got just the right amount of sparkle; any more and it might look a bit tacky, any less and it wouldn't really be statement piece. So I reckon Primark just about hit the nail on the head.

I'm more of a gold person than a silver one, as all the off-set tones on bag zips and shoe buckles are gold so it makes sense to keep things matching. I also think silver looks cheaper, so with gold you can get away with paying next to nothing more easily because it's harder to tell. I thought this necklace was perfect; the gold with the cream and the diamonds (well fake ones obviously) made it really elegant and classy and perfect for making a statement. This one was also £6 from Primark, and considering similar pieces are £25 from Topshop, I thought this was really good for a quarter of the price. I think this will look really good with collared tops as it's just the right length and thickness. With both necklaces, I've worn my latest favourite lipstick; Natural collection Moisture shine in Raspberry. You could wear pastel lipstick with the pastel necklace but lipstick is pretty much the only thing I really don't like in pastel shades; it washes me out too much so I tend to stick with brighter colours. Also just FYI; I'm wearing a bandeau top in all the photos, just incase you thought I was naked which I've now realised it does look like. To buy two statement necklaces and still have enough change for lunch from a £10 and a £5 is pretty good going I'd say; who needs a platinum Amex card?
