Sun, sea and Sex on the beach
No this is not some kind of explicit blogpost; Sex on the beach as in the cocktail (incidentally my fave). While most of you have been enjoying the rain and cold that England has to offer, I've spent the last week sunning it up in Spain. We stayed in an all-inclusive hotel in La Pineda, where we've stayed 3 times before but we love it so much we had to go back again. Even though the last time we went was the summer of 2011, everything was just the same and it felt almost like coming home. We were amazingly lucky with the weather too. We took a risk going in April and the whole week before we went had been rainy but it was gorgeous sunshine the whole time we were there. My phone reckoned it would be around 18 degrees but it was actually around 25 every day (I was a very happy girl).
Excuse the fact that I look like some kind of make-up-less elf in the bottom picture but I had to have proof that I did actually go in the pool despite the fact it was freezing cold. Even though it was sunny while we were there, because it was the start of the season it meant the water hadn't had time to warm up so it was practically boltic. Our hotel was right on the beach and although I wasn't brave enough to swim in the ocean, it was still nice to walk along the sand. Okay so I didn't get a massive amount of swimming done, but it was so nice to just spend a week relaxing and tanning at the same time.
Because we were only there for a week and we were flying with Ryanair; I had to think carefully about what to pack. I took two bikinis (top photo); the one on the left was from Accessorize last summer and is a twisted bandeau style which I love for not giving strap marks; the one on the right is one of my latest River Island purchases and is part of the Katie Eary collection for £35 for the set, £20 for the top and £15 for the bottoms. I love high waisted bikini bottoms; the whole 1940s style is just perfect. Although the top did give me some very interesting strap-marks. While we were there, there was also a parade of Ferrari's due to them opening a Ferrari hotel and showroom just down the road from where we were staying. Among them was also a cute classic Mini and this amazing red Cadillac. FYI, I plan to own one of these cars one day, preferably when I'm living in America (it's all part of my 10 year plan).
Okay so the name of the blogpost does actually have a point to it. Being all-inclusive, not only did it give me the perfect excuse to eat ridiculous amounts, it also made it actually unacceptable not to drink in the day. Who could say no to free cocktails round the pool in the sun. Although a little French girl got jealous of the fancy parrot decoration that came with the drink and so she got her Grandma to come over to me and ask if she could have it. Normally I am really not a children person but she was actually sweet. My anti-children attitude also wasn't helped by the fact that 11 schools had trips to our hotel at the time we were there; 550 school children do not make for the perfect holiday scenario.
On our last day there, we went to the theme park which is right near by (Port Aventura) and is now home to the biggest roller coaster in Europe; overtaking the Pepsi Max at Blackpool pleasure beach which barely ever runs because of the windy English seaside weather. Queuing for hours was not ideal but I do love theme parks so it ended up being worth the wait. Although from the first photo you would assume I hate them. I am clearly an alien in my family, as they're all smiling like crazy and I look like I'm about to die. As you can see from the photos, my new white jeans (Joni by Topshop) were a staple in my holiday wardrobe. Not only are they comfortable and summery and don't make you too hot, but they also go with all the pastel tops I took with me. Normally at home I wouldn't wear them with white shoes, but I didn't have the space in my case to take another pair and I think because the shoes are gladiators (the Primark ones from my previous post) I got away with it okay.
The holiday went so quickly but it was so nice to get away for a while and I'd be lying if I said the time off work wasn't great too. But coming home yesterday and going out and seeing everyone stopped me from caring that the weather back home isn't nearly as nice. So now with darker skin and lighter hair (I can't actually believe how much the sun has bleached my hair in just a week), I can enjoy the rest of my Easter break. A break which I'm guessing will be mostly spent at work, watching Gossip Girl (my latest obsession) or finding excuses not to do my college work.
