I'm a barbie girl in a barbie world
Can you see a recurring theme here? Okay so I might be having a bit of a pink moment. I'm not usually into Barbie-pink like this, I usually prefer pale pastel pink or dark burgundy-pink (which we all know is basically red), but I just had to have this. The print is suspiciously close to dogtooth (my ultimate obsession), although it is slightly different. It's a gingham print which is really cute and has more of a feminine feel than large checks or tartan. The colour is not what I'd normally choose at all although it just works on this top, I can't quite put my finger on why. The cut-away sleeves are really nice at showing off your shoulders (I really like mine weirdly) and the key hole fastening at the back adds a nice bit of detail. It's from New Look for only £9.99!! (I'm all about the bargains right now, what with having a holiday to pay for) and they also have it in black and white, so if you really can't warm to the Barbie pink then monochrome is always a safe-bet. What with it being cropped, I'd wear this with something high waisted; jeans, shorts or skirt; any will work. Because it's a geometric print I'd avoid wearing it with anything printed, stick to something plain so your top can really be your statement. I would stay away from wearing it with statement necklaces aswell because it might look too 'busy', wear it with a watch, bracelets and earrings instead. It's a great top to be able to wear dressed up or grunged down aswell; the shoes are the decider. Wear with converse in the day then swap to heels for night.
Luckily, I already had the perfect lipstick to go with this. It's from the Kate Moss collection by Rimmel London, shade 05. I love this lipstick because its the perfect level of shiny without being too shimmery. I really hate when lipstick looks as though its had shimmery eyeshadow spilled into it at some stage, I like more matte or gloss shades. This one's a nice in-between though and goes on really nicely, and it lasts through the day well too. It's also not a bad price at £5.49 (although that does make it more than half the price of the top itself) and Boots have 3 for 2 across all makeup and fake eyelashes at the moment so get it now and save yourself some money!
